01 July 2019 - Director of the Airports of Montenegro, Danilo Orlandić said in an interview for CdM that they are happy to announce that Montenegro already welcomed over 1 million passengers in international traffic.

According to him, the number of passengers exceeded the figures of 2018 by 10%, which in the end justified the optimistic estimations from the beginning of the year.

“Already now we can say that 2019 will be more successful than 2018, a record-breaking year, and based on the announcements, we expect the airports in Podgorica and Tivat to welcome around 2.600.000 passengers. We are happy to hear about this data but it also creates an obligation for us to boost our capacities and provide better service to the passengers,” Orlandić noted.

Commenting on the flock of crowds through Tivat Airport, he noted that crowds at the airports are nothing unusual, as they happen in much larger airports, especially in the peak season.

“I do not see why this should be perceived as bad news. Of course, it is nothing new that we lack space and that is why we constructed departure Terminal 2 in Tivat Airport with the support of the Government of Montenegro,” concluded Orlandić.

Director of the Airports of Montenegro also claims that currently there are around 25% of departing tourists using this facility, and their number is to be even higher in the next few days. In addition, the Airports of Montenegro has the plan to improve conditions for tourists coming to the country by upgrading the existing terminal.

29 June 2019 - Marie Claire magazine recently published an article explaining why Montenegro is the perfect travel destination for all tourists worldwide. “If you’ve never thought of holidaying in Montenegro, here’s why you should” provided information not only on the offer of the gorgeous five-star Hotel Regent, but also on the best tips on how to spend the most fantastic holiday and enjoy the Adriatic charm in Montenegro.

Think glorious blue seas, cobbled streets and orange rooves that stretch for miles, similar to its neighbour Croatia only much quieter. Montenegro has been tipped as one of the continent’s most up-and coming travel destinations, and with good reason.

Here’s why you should head to the country’s UNESCO-protected Boka Bay area on the Adriatic coast for your next European adventure.

Montenegro Offers The Perfect European Adventure 2

Just 10 minutes by car from Tivat Airport and about to celebrate its fifth birthday, Regent Porto Montenegro is the five-star jewel in the region’s crown. We’re talking the most comfortable beds, daylight flooded-rooms and cosy interiors that’ll put you at ease from the moment you settle into your room.

Porto Montenegro itself is home to a number of restaurants, bars, designer shops, pool club and nightlife, so you’re spoilt for choice in terms of things to do in the village-like area, but keep reading for all that the hotel has to offer.

Feeling extra flush? The Suite Life package includes private airport transfers, breakfast, cocktails in the cosy Library Bar or pool club, and a 50€ voucher redeemable in the hotel’s beautiful spa. From £831pp per night, you’ll also get tickets to events in Porto Montenegro and a private Naval Heritage Museum tour. Dreamy.

Montenegro Offers The Perfect European Adventure 18

Murano is the hotel’s luxury eating spot, serving carefully crafted dishes and taking advantage of all of the local seafood and wine (great for fish lovers). There’s also the option to have a private Chef’s Table dining experience for 4-6, for a more intimate eating session. In the mornings, breakfast is also served at Murano; if to your taste, the truffle scrambled eggs are a must-have at least once during your stay.

For a more casual eating option, head to the Gourmet Corner, a lovely breakfast and lunch spot with the feel of an Italian deli. On Thursdays between May and mid-September, chefs will be hosting Al Fresco dining sessions here and cooking up a range of delicious pasta and risotto dishes. And after dinner, the cosy Library bar is perfect for an evening tipple.

When you need a moment of peace and quiet, pop up to the hotel’s spa floor for some time out. You’re well equipped with a sauna, steam room, experience shower, Turkish bath and swimming pool, plus plenty of space to sit and relax.

Montenegro Offers The Perfect European Adventure 33

Aromatherapy Associates products and treatments are also both on offer to help you achieve maximum relaxation. Try the Regent Spa Signature Treatment, a head-to-toe combination of massage and lymphatic drainage complete with an aromatherapy oil best suited to your needs. If you’re feeling fancy, there’s even the option to have your treatment on a private yacht…

If you are looking for things to do in Montenegro, you should definitely go for wine tasting! Not far from Podgorica airport is the Plantaže vineyard and Sipcanik wine cellar, housed in a former secret hangar. Head for a wine tasting session, paired of course with delicious fruits and cheeses, or simply to pick up a few bottles to take home. Did we mention it’s much cheaper than you’ll find in the supermarket?

Made up of narrow streets and squares, the old town of Kotor also has plenty of history and interesting architecture on offer. Explore the city on your own or book in for a walking tour to see the area through the eyes of a local. For a few euros you can also climb the steps of the city walls for the postcard-perfect bird’s eye view.

Montenegro Offers The Perfect European Adventure 4

If you’re interested in the local cuisine, there’s also an abundance of local restaurants and coffee spots to choose from, with Perast’s must-see Our Lady of the Rocks a short drive away. We recommend sitting in the town’s Square of the Arms for a people watching session paired with delicious coffee.

June, 29, 2019 - The grand finale concert of Roby Lakatos trio and the Montenegrin Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of conductor Nada Matošević Orešković, will be held tonight at the Synchro Stage Porto Montenegro, starting at 9.30 pm.

I am very happy that I have come here, it’s a very nice place for a little vacation, because we are spending a holiday here. We have had a rehearsal with the Montenegrin Symphony Orchestra and we will play with them tonight, so we are going to spend some very nice time at the concert tonight, I think. I have also listened to two concerts on the festival. It was great on the String Sextet concert, so I have asked young Robert Lakatos, Serbian violinist to come and join us on the concert tonight. Normally it’s a surprise, but he will play with us a surprise encore. It is very interesting that we have the same name, but we are not related. He is really a great young violin player", Lakatos told us before the concert.

The concert is being organized as the finale of the second edition of the Festival Mediterranean Notes, which gathers the world's largest virtuosos, making Tivat one of the largest world classical music scenes these days (21-29. June).

Roby Lakatos is a violin virtuoso and an extremely versatile musician. He is often described by music lovers as a devil fiddler, master of classics, a jazz improviser and he is also a composer and arranger. His unique artistic personality includes all of the above and he combines the brilliant technique with stylish mastery, which make him one of the best violinists in the world.

Lakatos was born in 1965 in the legendary family of Roma musicians. He is a direct descendant of Janos Bihari - the famous "King of Roma violinists", who was admired by Beethoven and Liszt, and who inspired Brahms to devise the themes of his Hungarian dances:

I am the seventh generation from Janos Bihari, who was the biggest violin player of his time and he was a very good composer for jipsy music, but actually for Hungarian music, because he was playing in the Burg in Vienna and he made famous Hungarian dances, like the palotash, he was very famous. In my family everybody was a violin player – my father, grandfather, each generation. “

The Montenegrin Symphony Orchestra performed at more than three hundred concerts in the country and abroad (Italy, Bosnia and hercegovina, , Serbia, Croatia, Russia, Turkey, Albania, France, Macedonia... After its first performance on December 14, 2007 in Cetinje it has soon become the basis of Montenegrin music life.

Nada Matošević Orešković was the chief conductor of the Rijeka Opera and the general manager of the Croatian National Theatre in the same city.

“The Strings that Connect Us” is the motto of the festival.

June 27, 2019 - The Municipality of Tivat addressed Prime Minister Duško Marković with the request to take measures to deter certain parts of the coast of Tivat as a public good, withholding them from leasing through the Sea Property and remaining on the management of the city, of which they are a crucial part.

It is the town's waterfront Pine, the town port of Kalimanj and the largest Tivat public beach of Ponta Seljanova. About ten days ago, the Sea Property leased the town's harbor and the Pine promenade over a public bid to a private company for 58,380 euros a year, which led Tivat's local company to lose the right to manage the town's row.  Tivat became a rare example of a city on the Adriatic that lost its waterfront and the city dock. Ponta Seljanova has also recently been leased to companies settled on Russian capital, and there is also a relative danger that something similar would happen to Tivat's city port of Kalimanj, which is about to be launched via public bid for the choice of a tenant of the port of local importance in the state ownership.

"Certain localities in the territory of our municipality are of great importance to Tivat and are located in the area of the Sea Property. We are addressing the request and the desire to protect them in such a way that they are not subject to any leasehold practices followed by public tendering procedures," says a letter Tivat Mayor, Sinisa Kusovac sent to the Prime Minister Duško Marković a few days ago.

In the correspondence prepared by Tivat's Secretary for Sustainable Development and Planning Tamara Furtula and the municipal manager, Marko Petričević, Pine, Ponta Seljanova and Kalimanj are located on the shores of particular public interest for Tivat.

The municipality has indicated in the letter to Markovic that the shore of Pine, which Sea Property signed the lease contract for five years with a new leaseholder, entrepreneur Pavle Mićunović, is "the heart of the city" and "the most important location in our town." They have reminded that the local administration has been demanding that for years to come to the coast of the center of Tivat on the move from the building of the Port of Captain from Pine to Belane.

"Riva Pine, the most vulnerable location in our town, according to the plan - the promenade of the Lungo Mare has recently been reconstructed by the project solution obtained through the competition, and any interventions opposed to the project are not desirable. In light of the fact, it is the center of the city with well-kept city baths and a seafront promenade. In previous years, our Utility Company concluded a contract on the use of the sea property to manage the pier at the location of Pine and managed in the best possible way this part of the coast that was available to all, primarily to Tivat citizens, respecting the terms of the contract. The "Jadran" was berthed here as a recognizable decoration of Pine," reads the letter to Markovic who was informed by the Tivat Municipalities that the private person "offered an unrealistically high price for the lease of Pine," which caused the Commune to lose bids in the Sea Property.

"Now the connection of the "Jadran" ship to this location is under the sign of the question, as well as the interests of the citizens of Tivat. In the tourist offer of the city, all the art and cultural events took place at the location of Pine, which is now also questionable." The Tivat Mayor reminded the prime minister of one of the principles of the recently adopted Spatial Plan of Special Purpose for the Coastal Area, saying that it is the necessary respect for traditions and acquired rights.

"There is also a public good in the coastal area, along the shore of the public interest, which has the significance and character of communal property - a space that is entirely in the service of the local community and has a general nature. Such areas can be excluded from the sea property area, and this applies to city parks along the coast, city walkways, which at the same time have the function of accessing the beach and the sea," quotes the memo of this principle from the Spatial Plan of Special Purpose for the Coastal Area.

Tivat's ousters now demanded from Prime Minister Markovic "to recognize the public interest of the citizens of Tivat" and to help them "protect it."

"Please take the necessary steps to keep these essential localities (Pine, Kalimanj and Ponta Seljanova) in the service of the local noise and keep the public character," concludes Kusovac's speech to the Prime Minister.
To the problem of gradual privatization and excessive commercialization of the almost complete Tivat coast, otherwise, for years in that city warned the opposition, and the local DPS-SD-HGI authority so far has dismissed such objections and pleaded with the city's lack of expertise in planning and using its seashore. The right to self through the centralist laws was invoked exclusively by the state. Tivat's DPS and HGI, which have their representatives among the deputies in the Criminal Defense Department of Montenegro and ministers in the Government, have so far failed to advertise and try to prevent fundamental executive forces from giving critical local resources such as Pine, Ponte Seljanova and Kalimanj to the Sea Property tenders.

Interestingly, though they sent a letter to the prime minister on 19 June asking for the Government to suspend the leasing of three key locations on the Tivat coast, DPS Tivat did not want to accept the request of coalition partners from the SD a day earlier, to discuss the problem of privatization of the city waterfront at a local parliament session.

June 22, 2019 - YC Delfin from Tivat this summer is organizing a sailing school, reserved for children ages 6 to 15 years old. Delfin is the most successful Montenegrin sailing club with 70 years of tradition, and working with the youngest is one of the segments of their most significant dedication.

Sailing school attendants will master the basics of sailing on Optimist, sailing boats specially designed for children and beginners through the theoretical and practical work, and will learn to manage the ship. They will acquire basic knowledge of equipping and guarding, clothing and equipment for safety, necessary naval skills, knots, winds, and sea. At the school, students will acquire essential management skills in light winds with the assistance of individual skills and self-management.

At the summer school, in a fun and creative way, children get acquainted with the sea and acquire self-confidence through sport and socializing with peers. In the organization of the sailing school, children are on the shore and at sea under the supervision of a coach.

Through the course of sailing every year, about 100 children pass, which is not only a sporting success but also a success of Montenegro's development as a maritime country.

This year's summer school started on 17 June. Behind the Sailing Club Delfin are numerous achievements, and the basis for all is quality work with young people. The head coach of the club, Ilko Klakor, points out that Delfin has strengthened the training team for this season.

"Our goal is to gather as many participants as possible, to be divided into five groups so that five trainers can work with them: Ilija Markovic, Nikola Golubovic, Stefan Anđelic, Danilo Joncic and I," Klakor said.

All younger coaches are also YC Delfin's competitors with many years of experience at sea.

In addition to the school for children, Delfin also started the training program for interested senior candidates last year. "When sailing is concerned, it's never too late. From this summer we also offer an adult course, to be organized on Laser-type sailboats. And indeed, they can try the oldest," said the club.

As for the school for the youngest, training is held from Monday to Thursday from 10 am to 1 pm.

The club provides sailing school attendants with all the necessary equipment and care boats, life-saving belts, a fast-paced boat that is continuously on board the sailboats at sea. Participants need to bring only water and a sun protection cap for training, says the coach Ilko Klakor.

Registration for sailing school candidates is open at YC Delfin, and for any additional information interested can also contact the e-mail: delfin.jk@gmail.com, and phone numbers +382 68 371 150 and +382 68 173 661.

Today is 13 June, the day of Saint Anthony of Padua, the patron saint of Tivat. The cult of Saint Anthony is especially respected in Boka Bay, and in this city, there are three churches built in honor of this saint, in the Lepetane, Kalimanj and Tripovići settlements.

St. Anthony of Padua, who is among the most important saints of the Roman Catholic Church, was born in 1195 in Lisbon and died on 13 June 1231 in Padua. Although a nobleman, he went to the convent early and quickly ordained to be a priest.

St. Anthony was in North Africa for a short time, but because of his illness, he returned to Europe. After the death of St. Francis in 1226, at the Franciscan assembly he was elected provincial of the expanded province of Bologna in northern Italy. Still, for life, he gained his reputation and respect, and many believers thought that he possessed divine power and made miracles for the benefit of the weak and the sick.

St Anthony, as the patron saint of the city, is celebrated in Tivat from the 18th century. Earlier, the most significant number of Tivat families celebrated as the holy name of St. Savior, and Saint Simon, as witnessed by some of the oldest churches, St. George in the area of Black Plato, and Saint Simon in the same cemetery in the city. When did the Tivars begin to celebrate Saint Anthony of Padua?

Dragan Rajčević, a passionate explorer of the past of our city, reminds us of the fact that Venice was brought to Venice by Tivat.

"On 29 September 1731, a decision was made to build a church of St. Anthony at the locality of Perovo, owned by Mihovil Buće, which was completed on 29 March 1734. At that time The parish was Don Ivan Galatus, and the bishop of Kotor was Monsignor Zanobet. On 11 July 1734, a dedication was made, the blessing to St. Anthony's Church, that the first massacre held on 8 November of the same year on the occasion of the death of some of the most significant Kotorans, the saint of all citizens of Tivat," Rajčević recalls.

"You will not go swimming before St. Anthony," former citizens of Tivat told their children. This year, for this wisdom of ancestors, we have chosen the weather conditions.

In numerous churches throughout the Kotor Diocese, the Holy See of the World - Antun Padovanski, is traditionally celebrated with holy masses, devotions, blessings of children and bread.

The Holy Mass at Tivat was celebrated this morning in St. Anton's parish church in Tripovići, the chapel of Saint Anthony at Belania and the church of Saint Anthony at Lepetane. Evening prayers are scheduled at 5 pm in Lepetane, and 6 pm in the parish church in Tripovići.

11 June 2019 - The first results of the analysis of seawater quality for 100 public swimming areas, conducted by the Institute of Biology for the needs of Public Enterprise for Coastal Zone Management of Montenegro from May 23rd to May 26th, showed that on 89% of the beaches the quality of seawater was K1 class, while on 11% of the swimming areas the water was K2 class.

These results confirm that the seawater at Montenegrin beaches is of excellent quality, i.e., that the beaches have good sanitary conditions and that the water is safe for swimming and recreation.

Out of 16 swimming areas in Ulcinj Municipality, 13 had water with excellent quality, while 3 beaches had water with class K2, or satisfactory quality.

In Bar, the quality of seawater was K1 class on all 12 swimming areas, while in the municipality of Budva the analysis was done in 27 locations, one of which was recorded quality K2, while in other locations the sea water had K1 class quality.

The quality of seawater K1 was determined at 6 swimming areas in Tivat, while 3 of Tivat’s beaches had the quality class K2.

In Kotor, out of a total of 15 bathing areas, the quality K1 was determined at 12 locations, while for the remaining 3 the quality of the water was K2 class.

When it comes to water quality on the Herceg Novi coast, the analyses showed the sea water quality K1 class at a total of 20 swimming areas, while one beach had water with quality rating class K2.

The results of testing the sanitary quality of seawater, as well as the data on sea temperature, air temperature and salinity for each individual bathing site, can be found on the special application on the website www.morskodobro.com.

Since 1996, the Public Enterprise for Coastal Zone Management of Montenegro has been implementing annual programs for monitoring the sanitary quality of seawater at public beaches during the summer season in accordance with the provisions of the Water Act. Since 2010, this Program has been implemented by the Decree on classification and categorization of waters, as well as following other national and international regulations in the field of environmental protection.

In order to monitor the sanitary safety of seawater in public swimming areas and its overall quality, and in accordance with national and international regulations, the following parameters are examined: basic microbiological parameters - escherichia coli, intestinal enterococci, as well as additional chemical parameters: air temperature, water temperature (when taking a sample), salinity, pH value, the colour saturation with oxygen (% O2), ammonia (mg / l), floating waste materials (descriptive) and colour and transparency (descriptive).

June 11, 2019 - The competent inspectors must continually monitor the situation on the ground during the tourist season, and the bathing areas on the territory of the Tivat Municipality must be formed in following the Atlas of Montenegrin beaches and the stringent regulations, was assessed at the session of the Coordination Team for monitoring the tourist season in Tivat.

"The Municipality insists on respecting the guidelines set by the Atlas of the Beaches and Bathing Resorts and applicable regulations, and any action that does not comply with these documents will require the intervention of the competent inspections. Also, retaining the boat at the pier at Pine must be following the rules, and we will insist on that," said the president of the Municipality, Dr. Siniša Kusovac, who chairs the Team.

The Atlas of Montenegrin beaches and bathing resorts as the 6C site recognizes the beach in front of Hotel La Roche and the Bevanda restaurant. The area of the mentioned beach area is 700 m2, and the length of the beach is 40 m (in front of La Roche Hotel). The second part of the 6C site (in front of the Bevanda Restaurant) is defined as a hotel bath, and here, there are plans to set up beach equipment following hotel capacities and other amenities that the bathing area needs to comply with the Ordinance. The surface of this beach is 450 m2, and the length of the beach is 30 m. There is no plan to set up a bar with a terrace. Part of this location in front of the La Roche Hotel is designed for public bathing, without beach equipment, entirely free for citizens. At this time there is a bar with a terrace, and the restaurant garden with tables is set in front of Bevanda.

The Sea Property Inspector noted that the contents on both sides of the beach were reported to the competent urban planning and construction inspectorate.

The meeting of the Coordination Team was also attended by the chief urbanism-construction inspector who announced the responses by the end of this week.

The representatives of the Tivat Municipality have initiated the issue of fencing the beachfront of the beach in front of Hotel Palma, which is not by the Rulebook, as well as tables with beach chairs, which is also not in the Atlas.

There was also a question about the affairs of the Belane beach and the works on this area, and whether works on the beach were carried out following the construction permit and revision of the project and the Atlas of Montenegrin beaches.

According to Atlas, Belane beach is in the category of the public-private beach (investment). The beach is 95 meters long with the surface of 1032 m2, and there are plans for a beach with a bar of 18m2 and a terrace of 50m2. Half of this beach resort by Atlas should be free for citizens, and the other half for setting up beach equipment - parasols, tables, and chairs.

The open bar or beach bar (according to urban conditions) is made of prefabricated elements. The area, on which the open bar is installed, including the dining area for a restaurant terrace, cannot be physically changed or concreted. It means that it is placed solely on the sloping surface of a maximum height of 10cm compared to the ground level.

At Belane, the lessee is currently building a solid material bar, concreting part of the beach, and carrying out works on its spreading to the sea.
