27 July 2019 - Traffic laws in Montenegro still have not defined the use of self-balance e-scooters on public roads and that is why the Montenegrin National Police plans to launch an initiative requiring amendments to the road safety legislation. Until then, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Montenegro urges the citizens to be more careful on roads/pavements, reported CdM.

E-Scooters with electric motors are already commonly used in many cities of Montenegro, not just by children but the adults as well.

Despite many advantages, experts warn of potential dangers with powered scooters, having in mind they can travel up to 35 km/h. As they represent a completely new mode of transport on Montenegro’s roads, laws governing road safety still haven’t defined it closely, the Ministry of Internal Affairs stated.

However, the Office for Communal Affairs, Transport and Energy Efficiency for the Tivat Municipality have announced that between the hours of 7 PM and 11 PM daily, the Pine Boardwalk, Marshal Tito Street and Ivo Vizin Boardwalk will be closed to bicycles and e-scooters.

“The measure has been taken in response to an increase in the number of cycle and scooter users on the boardwalk who travel at a speed that is a real danger to pedestrians, particularly small children,” highlighted the Tivat Municipality representatives on this occasion.

Miroslav Šuković, an artist living and working in Kolašin and Podgorica, has presented his artwork in the Summerhouse Buća Gallery in Tivat.

The exhibition was opened last night by art historian Marija Saičić who pointed out:

"The story of coexistence struggle, the struggle of man with himself, and the story of the inevitable spiritual heritage, are being told through the works of Montenegrin painter Miroslav Šuković. His paintings bear the painful truth about existence, inner demons, man's tedium in the contemporary world and society through unconventional scenes from which there is an unmistakable truth emerging in Šuković's work. There is one question that he tries to answer with the brush, that is, the movement and the color: How to paint a man's soul?"

“Man is at the centre of my creativity, and human psychology, or the inner state of man, is something that interests me most and I have been dedicated to it since the beginning of my work. These works were created by combining different materials on canvas and paper. I like to experiment with material, so I use pastels, pencils and coal. It is a process that goes its own way and we shall see how this story will continue. I do not like calculation in creativity and creation," the artist said about his work.

Šuković was born in 1977 in Bihać. He is a member of the Association of Fine Artists of BiH, a participant of numerous solo and collective exhibitions. He won the Cetinski Fine Show "Thirteen November" award in 2015.

Art historian Marija Saičić concluded that Šuković’s compositions have extraordinary power and are not a mere celebration of existence but a picture of mental pain that destroys modern man when he contemplates existence, interpersonal relationships or deviations of the modern age.

Šuković’s exhibition will be open until 16 August on the ground floor of the Tivat Museum and Gallery.

26 July, 2019 - Baia, the new wing of the Regent Pool Club Residences has been opened, thus marking the final phase and completion of this glamorous building in the Porto Montenegro superyacht marina, situated in Tivat. The opening of the new wing was marked by a glamorous party at the hotel's pool, as announced by Regent Porto Montenegro.

The Regent Pool Club Residences now consist of three wings, where the two, AQUA and BAIA, are taking waterfront living to a new level of elegance in a luxurious setting, joining the existing Venezia wing. BAIA’s 67 new units range from rooms, one to three-bedroom suites and penthouses. The leading London design consultancy WATG Architects and MHZ Paris are responsible for their design. Earthy shades of straw, beige and grass contrast harmoniously with sumptuous furniture in rich dark tones creating a calm oasis.

Each room will offer utmost privacy to guests with either sweeping views across the bay and marina, lush countryside or the dramatic Vrmac mountain range. Rooms and suites are surrounded by beautiful landscaping, where the infinity swimming pool and pool club take centre stage, with a clean and minimal design reflecting the Mediterranean beach style.

The architecture of the BAIA wing follows the Venezia and AQUA wings style, combining Venetian and Italian Riviera aesthetic with a rich palette of natural shades, that blend seamlessly with the adjacent luxury 5* Regent Porto Montenegro hotel. WATG worked closely with the internationally renowned designer Tino Zervudachi to create interiors which portray modern-day glamour with an art-deco feel.

Kai Dieckmann, General Manager at Regent Porto Montenegro, remarked: "The opening of the BAIA wing, in our 5th year of operation, is the finishing touch to Regent Porto Montenegro’s project and offers our guests a diverse selection of rooms, residences and penthouses to choose from. We want to offer a sense of unobtrusive luxury which has been brought to life through WATG and MHZ Paris’s contemporary designs, whilst tying into the existing aesthetic of our two other wings with the recognisable nautical design. Guests can experience stunning views from every room and exceptional Regent service and experiences – such as the excellent dining, the relaxing Regent Spa and a variety of activities in the destination.”

During their stay, guests will have access to the award-winning infinity pool, which was named one of the top 30 hotel pools in the world in 2018.

There is also the resident-only Pool Club with landscaped gardens, lap pool, children’s pool, poolside restaurant and sunbeds, gym, private walkway to AQUA and Venezia wings, elegant spa facilities and four restaurants.

“We’re delighted to round off the Regent project which falls coincidentally with the hotel’s fifth anniversary. In a short while, our homeowners will take the keys to their new residences, enriching the Porto Montenegro community and enjoy the fantastic lifestyle promise we offer all of our residents”, said David Margason, Managing Director of Porto Montenegro.

The total investment of the Baia hotel extension is 36 million euros.

Tivat World Music festival is getting closer to its third edition and almost all the participants who will unite people with music in September are now known.

Femi Kuti, the prince of "Afrobeat" and the worthy successor to his father, Fela Kuti, will open the third edition of the festival on September 12th at the Pine boardwalk. Each festival allows Montenegrin citizens and guests from all over the world free enjoyment of quality authentic music with the best performers from the country, the region and the world.

The founder, director and the soul of Tivat World Music festival, Dalibor Ševaljević, reveals the names of the other participants for TMN: “We have almost all the participants now. From the region, we will welcome the band Irfan from Bulgaria, who will play in Montenegro for their first time. It is a band that has been on the scene for a long time and is one of the ethno music models in the Balkans. From Croatia comes the ensemble Atma Mundi from Rijeka, who plays ethno jazz. From Serbia this year, we have two bands: Bilja Krstić & Bistrik orchestra, who have been together 18 years, and the EJO band, short for ethno jazz orchestra. All together, we have four bands from the region, like last year. In my opinion, it's the best combination in the region.

Coming from the wider world, apart from Femi Kuti, we will have the Tanini Trio from Turkey and a rather exotic band from Portugal, Alba Luna, who also does world music, and a rather exotic band from Portugal Alba Luna, who also plays world music. As for the domestic bands, Glembajev from Podgorica will participate and we will have another pair of performers.”

The organizers were very proud at the end of the last Tivat World Music festival, wondering how to be even better next time. Ševaljević comments that: “The idea is that we are at least a little better every year, which means a bit more money. In the previous years, we have shown production perfection, where we used exclusively domestic power and the guests were exquisite. This year I think Femi Kuti's arrival is an excellent move to surpass both festivals. In my opinion, this is the best name in the kind of music that has ever appeared in Montenegro."

The moto of Tivat World Music Festival is "Feel it, taste it", and the gastro segment will be dedicated to Montenegrin cuisine this year.

The sponsor of the festival is the Tourist Organization Tivat. "They liked the idea and supported us from the beginning," says Dalibor.

"Porto Montenegro and Luštica Development are supporting us, too. They will have one stage each for a night of the festival. JU Museum and Gallery is also with us and there will also be an acoustic stage, so we will have a total of 4 stages. That is more than at previous festivals, and it also shows we are growing in every way. We also expect financial support from the Tivat Municipality, and we hope that some other companies will stand behind this project."

Femi Kuti and his band’s performance will probably cost half of the estimated amount of 50 thousand euro for the festival, which has not yet been covered, but the organizers hope that it soon will be, since this is the event that brings a great number of tourists to Tivat and Boka kotorska, so it certainly gives back to sponsors and the local economy.

“Come and enjoy the beauty of music in a magic landscape of Vrmac,” says the invitation by the organisers. The sponsor of the concert is Porto Montenegro.

Gornja Lastva is a small place with a Mediterranean charm, located in the Bay of Kotor on the Vrmac hill that separates the Tivat and Kotor parts of the bay. 13 July 2019 - President of Montenegro Milo Đukanović, at the invitation of Ahmet Erentok, President of the Board of Directors of Azmont Investments, visited the works at the Portonovi resort in Herceg Novi.

On this occasion, the preliminary works of the first phase of the construction, contents and activities, which will be available to the local and international public from 1st of August this year, were shown for the first time.

When Azmont Investments entered the Montenegrin market in 2012, its contractual obligation was to invest 52 million EUR in the first four years, or 258 million EUR in eight years. By the end of June this year, Portonovi’s investor invested 469 million EUR, while the total investment after all works would be close to 1 billion EUR, the company stated. In all segments of the project, an average of 1,560 workers are now engaged.

Đukanović said that he is impressed with what he saw in Portonovi, adding that the implementation of the project from the first day to the present seemed almost unbelievable. A lot of works have been completed already and everything was done according to what were the most optimistic expectations.

"This is a serious chance to solve key economic and social problems in the country and a key opportunity for Montenegro's development, primarily in these activities that really represent the best development opportunity for our country," noted Đukanović according to the report of the Cabinet of the President of Montenegro.

The Resort spans over 26 acres and consists of 1.8 kilometers of an exclusive coastal area with 214 residences. World brands, such as the first One & Only hotel in Europe with the Espace Chenot Health Wellness Spa Center, and D-Marine with 238 berths and the ability to receive boats up to 120 meters long, are part of the Portonovi’s resort offer. Within the marina, a border crossing is also envisaged.

Portonovi settlement is designed in a traditional Mediterranean style with a combination of bohemian and Venetian architecture, concerning Montenegrin history, tradition and culture of life and construction. With its completion, the quality and standards of Montenegro's tourist offer will significantly increase.

"I am pleased to note that in the final I can see that through the realization of the resort such as Portonovi, Porto Montenegro, Lustica and many other venues that are in preparation, we realize the vision of Montenegro as a European prestigious tourist destination where many people from Europe and beyond Europe recognize something that is truly the most valuable quality of our space and our people," concluded Đukanović.

Electric Vehicle Charging Station owned by Limited Liability Company Parking Servis Tivat is available for the use of the public and installed by Croatian Telecom in cooperation with Montenegrin Telecom.

"Through the mobile application Plugsurfing (and soon with other mobile applications), all users of electric vehicles in Europe are aware that they can fill their vehicle at a public parking lot in Tivat," the statement from the Parking Servis Tivat said.

Plugsurfing Application enables access to Europe’s largest and most up-to-date network of electric vehicle charging stations. Their simple charging process supports existing EV drivers and helps many more smoothly transition to electric driving. Now, Electric Vehicle Charging Station in Tivat can be found on the maps for all the users of Plugsurfing Application, which sends the signal to electric vehicle owners that their commute, weekend getaway or road trip across Montenegro is simple and worry-free.

06. July 2019- The Herceg Novi – Tivat speed boat line started last week, bringing passengers from one side to the other of the Boka Bay in twenty minutes. Nataša Bajat, the owner of Montenegro Boat Company, launched this interesting offer. She has lived and worked in New York since 1997, but she spent the last summers at her home in Herceg Novi.

What inspired her was the long time she had to spend to get to Herceg Novi from Tivat Airport by land:                                                                              "It was not difficult to come to this idea since I travel frequently. Always, when I would land at Tivat airport, I thought that it would be nice to get to Novi faster, and this is what I wanted to achieve," Nataša says.

Currently, a Sea Ray 240 Sundeck - "Wizard", with a capacity of 10 seats, is operating on that sea line, but from next week, another with 7 seats will be included. The route is covered every hour in each direction. From Herceg Novi to the airport, a speedboat arrives in about 20 minutes. Departures from Herceg Novi are at odd hours, starting at 7 a.m and from Tivat Airport from 8 a.m. It is necessary to make reservations via phone, e-mail, Viber or WhatsApp to service passengers and guests from abroad. One way ticket costs 19 euros, but discounts are planned for return tickets, as well as benefits for regular travellers and guests. People usually don’t believe that the price is so low for this sea line, Bajat said.

"The emphasis is on transporting passengers and tourists to the airport in order to avoid traffic jams from Herceg Novi to Tivat, but we stop and transport to all locations according to the requirements of passengers, including Tivat Bay, Krašići, Krtole, the complete left and right side of the bay to Igalo, as well as Rose and Njivice. Upon request, we are open to including Perast, or that part of the bay and add it to our sea line," explains the owner of the company. This service is open not only for airport passengers, but also for people who want to come to Tivat from Herceg Novi, or vice versa by this connection.

The boat stand is 350 meters away from the airport, which is a 4-5 minute walk from the Airport Terminal to the Marina Restaurant. The cooperation with Taxi drivers - Car Pool option has been arranged. The ride, which lasts less than a minute, is 5 euros, and the car can take five passengers who share the cost of transport.

"This season is a pilot project to make sure that all of this works and it would certainly be nice to have a service like this in the bay. It would be a good way to reduce pressure on road traffic," Bajat said.

The company currently has five employees, a female and male captain, a hostess who welcomes passengers at the airport and sends them to the mole where the boat is seated, as well as two sailors.

Nataša Bajat came to New York as an exchange student from Novi Sad, where she studied philosophy. She worked in tourism for sixteen years, for a world corporation of restaurants and hotels, where she remained a consultant, now she is in real estate. As philosophy remains in every segment of our lives: the philosophy of tourism, statehood, real estate, it will always stay a part of her life, too. However, boats have been her love since childhood, and she desires to return one day from New York to Herceg Novi and Boka.
