Major Storm Devastated One of Most Elite Beaches in Montenegro

Beach “Galija”, located on St. Stefan in Budva and considered to be one of the most exclusive on the Montenegrin coast, has been hit for the second time in the last half-year by a severe weather storm, which has caused enormous damage.

Damages is over € 100,000

“Galija's” executive director, Nikola Novakovic, said the damage was estimated at more than 100,000 euros. He added that many owners of beaches on the Montenegrin coast are in a similar situation.

"Most importantly, no one was hurt. We tried to save some of the inventory, but unfortunately, we failed. The damage is huge," Novakovic said.

As he points out, this is the second time in the last six months that such an accident has hit them, and the fifth one in the last few years.

"The enormous amount of hard work and effort, as well as the huge financial resources that have been invested in making the beach one of the most elite, both in Budva and on the entire Montenegrin coast, has been destroyed. I hope that the Municipality of Budva and JP Morsko dobro will support us and that there is an emergency fund for situations, such as this one," Novakovic points out.

He adds that the damage will be repaired and that next season, their guests will be greeted as they are used to and how they deserve.

"It will take a long time for the damage caused to be adequately repaired and the beach returned to its original condition. We were unable to secure the inventory, because the insurance companies do not insure the facilities near the sea, and I hope that the state will support not only me but everyone who is affected by this storm, "he concludes.

Although the most popular beach in Budva is almost destroyed, Novakovic assures all fans of Galija who express their concern these days that they will do their best to enable them to enjoy this ambience next season with the same quality as before.

Dance Workshop "Flow Through the Unknown" with Milica N. Popovic

November 19, 2019 - Organized by the Creative Center Tivat, a dance therapy workshop "Flow through the unknown," using the Maria Fux method, will be held on Saturday, November 23 from 3 pm to 6 pm at the Josip Markovic Cultural Center in Donja Lastva, Tivat. After the last month's presentation, licensed dance therapist Milica N. Popović is coming back to meet the great interest of the participants to discover more on this method, which rests on the realization that authentic dance lives in all of us. We need to recognize and wake it up to live more in tune with ourselves and the world around us. 
 
"Marija Fux's method is based on the possibility of change, which provides a way out of the vicious circle of uneasiness and problems, through the gradual abandonment of rigidity, fear, and instability, regardless of one's psychophysical and social status," explains Milica N. Popovic. Milica, born in Belgrade, who has lived in Florence for two and a half decades, has been dancing for 15 years using this method. For the last three years, having earned the trust of her teachers, she has enjoyed the opportunity to share her dance with those interested wherever she is.
 
"The human body is naturally destined to move. Our skin, muscle, and bone structure are constantly inviting to dance, having a great capacity for expression and communication. When illness, trauma, depression, or loss of interest in the environment, a distance from the authenticity of our being, introduces us into the foggy spaces in which we do not feel enough alone, dance therapy through free movement can bring us dimensions of pleasure and balance. It enables us to express our abilities and reaffirm our identity," Milica points out.
 
"Over many years of endeavoring to understand, refine and deepen body language through personal transformation, I have traveled to many geographical places, communicated with people of different generations, and felt diverse human states conditioned by different cultural backgrounds, environmental reasons, and social starting points. Along the way, I tried to understand the common root that binds every human being to his or her ability to remove the external and internal barriers of any kind. It is undoubtedly a process and an endless journey. Still, I feel that it is grounded in secret and shared the desire of a person from any cultural circle to return to the "house of love," in which dance therapy gently and unobtrusively shows us the direction. I can say that for many years, I have been feeling like I am walking the world of a decorated body. I would love for you to experience that experience as well," Milica says, referring to Saturday's workshop.

Natasa Prorocic is one of the students who had the opportunity to dance with Milica in October and explains why she decides to continue exploring herself through dance therapy using the Marie Fux method.
 
"I would say that we are living in a challenging time, which brings with it many different possibilities, but also many challenges. The pace of life is much faster, and therefore much more stressful. Therefore, it is up to us to find a way to balance ourselves in the chaos around us. We have to find some of our inner peace, in a way that is close to us. Today, there is a wide range of techniques that work to bring back ourselves. And dance therapy is one of those techniques, whose presentation I had the opportunity to attend and to meet a wonderful person like Milica Popovic, who introduced us to this method," says Natasa. 
 
She speaks of his personal experience:
 
"I have to admit that before the dance therapy presentation, I didn't know what to expect. At the very beginning, I was in a spasm, like most of us who participated. It took me a while to relax and indulge. But when I allowed myself to indulge, it was as if I had been drawn into another dimension, different from our every day, which was very liberating. I have entered a natural state that is lost somewhere over time, but is actually deep inside us and is just waiting to be awakened. Personally, it seems to me that dance therapy has begun to imbue that primal, intuitive, strong female energy."
 
The presentation of dance therapy by the Marie Fux method, by which Milica honored the citizens of Tivat, lasted an hour. The dance workshop, which is announced for Saturday, will take a full three hours. Natasha looks forward to this because although the hour seemed long, she wanted the dance to continue to last as long as possible.
 
"I think the radio show, which will be held on November 23, will be more intense and will be able to provide us with more than what this method provides. An hour is short. I think the announced three hours is the optimal time to relax and enter that second state of consciousness and work through this method on our subconscious. I liked that we would hang out for three hours on this occasion, and I look forward to meeting you on Saturday," concludes Natasa Prorotic, one of about 20 students who have already had the opportunity to dance with Milica.

Tivat Music School Celebrates 55 Years of Work

The 55th anniversary of the Tivat Music School will be marked by a series of programs throughout the 2019/20 academic year.

The main celebration of this anniversary is a festive concert which will be held on Friday, November 22 at 8 pm in the school's concert hall. The concert, called "Music for the Birthday," was included in the November Days event, which commemorates November 21 - Tivat Municipality Day.

The concert, as announced yesterday by the director of the Tivat Music School, Professor Pina Bubanja, will be attended by representatives of the Municipality, Adriatic Marinas and Lustica Development, directors of public companies of the city, directors of music schools, students of the first generation of Tivat Music School from the 1964/65 school year and others.

Mozura Wind Farm Begins Operations

November 19, 2019 - Minister of Economy, Ms Dragica Sekulić, and minister of Energy and Water Management of Malta, Mr Joe Mizzi, put Mozura wind farm into operation. The wind farm’s capacity is46 MW and is worth €90 million. Ministers agreed that this act was a confirmation of stable cooperation between the two countries.

“The fact that mostly state-owned energy company, from the EU member state, has recognized the potential of this project is the best confirmation that we created a favorable environment. When prudent investors come to Montenegro, we don’t need another promotion”, said Ms Sekulić.

Her Maltese counterpart said that his Government “recognized energy sector as of key pillars of the economy”.

“Construction of this mega-project took three years. The project encompasses 8,5 km of newly-built roads. Challenges were numerous but we managed to overcome them all. This project brought our countries closer to one another”, said Mr Mizzi.

Both ministers pointed out the importance of the fact that this energy is green.

Montenegro’s minister said that Mozura confirmed that further development in green energy was possible and, in fact, more favorable.

 

“Mozura gives us cause for optimism. It is particularly important for Montenegro’s energy sector and economy in general that this project was completed shortly after its construction stagnated for several years thanks to Enemalte involvement”, said Ms Sekulić.

Ms Sekulić wished investors successful work and good wind.

Mozura wind farm is a production facility with 46 MW of production power capacity. It consists of 23 individual windmills (2 MW of power).

The investment was implemented by Enemalta, Maltese state company and Malta Montenegro wind Park company, headquartered in Malta.

The second-largest wind farm in Montenegro will produce 120 GWH of energy annually.

By virtue of the amendments to the regulation on ways of promoting renewable energy resources, the functioning of Mozura won’t affect electricity bills in Montenegro.

'Boka - Area of Mysterious Beauty' Presented by Film, Poetry, Music and Taste

November 18, 2019 -The typical and unrelenting atmosphere of heavy rain and southern wind of the Boka region was not an obstacle for the numerous audiences who traveled to Gornja Lastva to enjoy a multimedia program entitled "Boka - Area of Mysterious Beauty."  Cultural Heritage Organization Napredak Gornja Lastva organized the event to join in celebrating the November Days of the Municipality of Tivat.
 
Last night's heavy rain was an adequate overture to the screening of a short film by Kotor author Dušan Vuleković, entitled "Južina." By skillful combinations of scenes and sounds, with three protagonists, Vuleković was able to fully evoke the atmosphere of nature and the state of man faced with her relentlessness - characteristic melancholy of southern weather in the bay, from which neither the hills of Boka nor the man, is compelled to escape.
 
The melancholic poetics of Frano Alfirevic, a poet who, in the first half of the 20th century, sang nostalgically with his verses and prose about Boka southerners and the details of his life, was spoken about by professor of literature, Neven Stanicic:
 
"For Frano Alfirević, Boka is a place where nature speaks with primal power and primordial purity. The post-storm Boka is a place that brings us back to the first days of the world. The sea with him evokes respect and fear, the fear that man has just in confronting himself. And, as much as it is a commonplace - I never had any idea that we would experience the same sentence in the film - that it is challenging and inconvenient to encounter ourselves during the heavy rain, which here lasts for days."
 
Actress Dubravka Drakić presented Alfirević's prose and poems, followed by carefully selected tunes performed by our exceptional cellist, Maja Antić.
 
The smell of rain on Bokelian night was joined by the scent of Priganice prepared by housewives at the Ilija Marković Cultural Center in Gornja Lastva. With Rakijas enriched with Vrmac herbs and fruits, both locals and guests, last night, felt once again all the senses of Boka, the area of the mysterious beauty.

UNICEF and MONSTAT: Violence Against Children Remains Crucial Problem

November 18, 2019 - In cooperation with UNICEF, the Statistics Office - MONSTAT organized the regional conference in Tivat, presenting the key findings of the MICS Survey on Multiple Indicators of the Rights of Children and Families in Montenegro, conducted during 2018. It is the largest post-census survey, conducted with the support of UNICEF, every five years, to collect statistically reliable and internationally comparable data on a range of indicators in the areas of health, education, child protection, and HIV / AIDS.
 
The conference began with a screening of short animations on crucial findings of MICS research in Montenegro at the general population and the Roma settlements level, after which UNICEF Ambassador to Montenegro Ambassador Osama Makawi Kogali addressed the conference. Today's discussion was based on the presentation of data obtained in four areas: breastfeeding, early education, immunization, and violent disciplining of children. The results show that progress has been made in certain areas compared to the previous survey conducted in 2013, but also indicates fields where further efforts are needed. A particular problem, especially in the southern region, continues to be violence against children.
 
"The 2018 MICS survey shows no progress in terms of violence against children at home compared to five years ago. About two-thirds of children aged 1-14 are exposed to at least one form of psychological or physical punishment by their parents. This problem is even more pronounced in the southern region of Montenegro, where the percentage of children facing some form of violence is as high as 70 percent. These data tell us that we need to change the social norms of child-rearing and lower the threshold of tolerance for violent disciplining of children and all other forms of violence," said UNICEF Ambassador to Montenegro Osama Makawi Kogali.
 
Director of the Directorate for Statistics Gordana Radojevic presented the key findings of the research, which included extensive preparation and training for young researchers, which ensured that the data obtained were relevant and comparable to MIKS surveys conducted worldwide. Also, Montenegro now has a significant pool of young researchers who can deal with not only statistics but also analysis and research in general tomorrow," Radojevic said.
 
Key findings from MICS health research were presented by Dr. Senad Begić, Assistant Director of the Institute of Public Health, after which the audience was able to ask questions.

The Faculty of Maritime Studies in Kotor is a higher education institution belonging to the University of Montenegro. It was founded in 1959 as a Higher Naval School. Following the growing needs of the maritime infrastructure of Montenegro, this educational institution, known throughout the former Yugoslavia, grew into a Faculty of Maritime Studies in 1981, with the aim of educating specialized naval staff in two-year studies (direction: shipbuilding, nautical, marine electrical engineering) and four-year studies (direction: maritime management). Academic 1999/2000. The Faculty of Naval and Naval Engineering is established at the Faculty for four years.
 
Today, at the Faculty of Maritime Studies in Kotor, according to the Bologna Declaration, there are six semesters of academic and applied studies. The following programs are available to students: Maritime Sciences; Maritime management; Nautics and maritime transport; Shipbuilding; Marine Electrical Engineering; Maritime management and logistics.
 
The Faculty of Maritime Studies in Kotor is the first institution of higher education in Montenegro, which has been certified following the ISO 9001 quality system as early as 2000. The application of the quality system and certification renewal, which is regularly done every three years, belongs to the Lloyd Register.
The Faculty of Maritime Studies is today a modern educational institution for naval staff. Maritime professionals are educated and trained by international standards, conventions, and recommendations. The training of marine professionals is carried out as part of regular teaching and specific training and training programs. The institution provides modern equipment for education, as well as for practical training. The quality of knowledge and skills of a wide range of applications make it possible for staff educated at the Faculty of Maritime Studies in Kotor to be employed by shipping companies around the world.
