August 20, 2018 - Elektroprivreda Montenegro (EPCG) marks their 108th year of work in the wake of a great investment momentum, as announced from the company, who said that investing more than 170 million euros over the next five years would increase the installed power of existing energy facilities as well as build new production capacities.

EPCG said that by reconstructing and modernizing production capacities, the company wants to retain its leading position in the Montenegrin electricity supply market, "especially in light of the open market and the potential entry of new suppliers."

CEO of EPCG, Igor Noveljic, on the occasion of the company's anniversary, has estimated that investments will provide high operational readiness for the equipment and plant and reliability in the operation of energy facilities, and also, greater security in supplying customers to all categories of consumption.

"Much is done on the ecological restoration of the existing block of TE Pljevlja, which will, with the re-cultivation of the existing ash and slag landfill, cost about 60 million euros. Also, in Perucica, with the financing of KfW Bank, about 60 million euros will be invested. This also includes additional capacities, the installation of the eighth aggregate to get a new 60 megawatts of installed power," Noveljić said.

EPCG has indicated that the manufacturing facilities of this company will soon be available with the most up-to-date equipment for operation in the 21st century.

"This will, to a great extent, contribute the realization of the second phase of the modernization of "Piva", worth over ten million euros for which the contract was signed with renowned partners - the Slovenian company, Litostroj and the Italian ABB at the end of July," said EPCG.

As they recall, a successful completion of the investment and technical documentation for the construction of HE Komarnica is successfully coming to an end, "for which around two million euros was allocated".

"Great investment incentives are the company's outstanding business results in the first half of the year when the net profit of about 43 million euros was achieved," said EPCG.

Noveljić said that the small hydropower plant "Otilovići" will be built in the next period.

"Also, the additional projects we plan and take over concern the construction of new capacity on the wind or possibly solar energy. So we expect that in the coming period, besides all the investments in existing facilities, we will get a certain installed power in the new capacities as well," Noveljić said.

EPCG reminded that they became owners of the Pljevlja coal mine and that they have also recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the "Gvozd" windmill project in the Nikšić municipality, in whose construction, as they pointed out, are planning to invest 70 million euros.

The Montenegrin electro-energy company chose the 19th day of August as its day and a reminder of the date when in 1910 in Cetinje, King Nikola I put the first electrical power station in Montenegro into operation.
