27 September 2018 - On September 27th - World Tourism Day, Environmental Organization “Ozon” took the opportunity to invite local authorities to exploit the potentials for ecotourism development as one of the most promising development models that open up advancement possibilities in the areas such as production, employment, entrepreneurship, innovation and networking.
This environmental organization believes that it is extremely important for the Montenegrin Government to use local natural resources and budget funds adequately, with the guidance of a proper business vision and keeping in mind public interests.
As the slogan under which this year's World Tourism Day is marked "Tourism and Digital Transformation", the representatives of the Ozon Organization believe that the national branding of Montenegro as an ecological state, which would include the application of modern digital and communication technologies, would make a major step forward in promoting ecotourism. If Montenegro gets famous for its ecologically sustainable development, the country would be more attractive for eco-tourists, who are characterized by a high degree of ecological awareness.
Ozon also made a proposition in regards to the “Eko-fond” Project. The Eko-fond consists of funds that will be given under certain favourable conditions, interest-free loans or loans, in relations to different areas of protection of the environment - biodiversity, endangered plant and animal species, projects related to climate change or energy efficiency.
In the preparation of the Eko-fond, whose establishment was announced by the end of this year, according to the Ozon Organization, it is extremely important for the Government to finance projects that contribute to the national branding of Montenegro as an ecological state, because such investments are oriented towards the development of the local economy, innovation, strengthening of market competitiveness and, therefore, of public interest.
The Environmental Organization "Ozon" was established in 2006 with the aim of contributing to the improvement of the quality of life and the environment, as well as the protection of the public interest through active participation in the decision-making process, public advocacy, and education of various target groups from all segments of the society.
