19 September 2018 - Reporters of the Dutch magazine Waterkampioen, the largest water sports magazine in the Netherlands, visited Montenegro from 11 to 19 May this year. Their arrival and stay in Montenegro was organized by the National Tourism Organization of Montenegro and local tourist organizations of Budva, Kotor, Tivat and Herceg Novi.
As a result of the visit, in this magazine, which is one of the oldest and most read magazines about recreation, tourism, traffic, transport and the environment in the Netherlands, an article about the Bay of Kotor was published on eight pages.
In the article, the author describes his experience in cruising through the Bay of Kotor and along the Montenegrin coast, pointing out that Montenegro is slowly becoming a well-known tourist destination - "an uncut diamond".
The tour of the author begins in Kotor, continuing through Perast, the islands Our Lady of the Rocks and St. George Island to the port Porto Montenegro. Porto Montenegro is characterized as very luxurious and with excellent service. The author of the article also concluded that the extraordinary position of the port led to its huge popularity, not only for large yachts but also for smaller boats and sailing boats.
The cruising trip continues from Porto Montenegro towards Herceg Novi, which is described as perhaps the most beautiful place on the Montenegrin coast. On the way to the open sea, the sailing boat passes along the island of Mamula, the Blue Cave, after which it visits Budva, one of the oldest places on the Adriatic.
In the article, the islands Katić and Sveta Nedjelja near Petrovac are recommended as the most beautiful islands near where anchoring is possible. The author also recommends visiting the Old Town of Kotor, which provides a wonderful view of the bay. A special suggestion of the author is to visit Villa Galeb in Herceg Novi, the former residence of Marshal Tito.
The article concludes that Montenegro is beautiful as a fairy tale country.
