The opening will be marked by an exhibition named "Ivo Andrić: Writer and/or Diplomat" organized by the Belgrade Museum of Art as well as the program "Andric trails of Herceg Novi“ performed by the actors of the Belgrade National Drama Theater Igor Djordjevic and Marija Bergam. The musical part of the evening will be performed by Danica Krstić.
Andrić's mansion will be introduced as a house of memories of the Nobel prize winner and the famous Novljanin (Herceg-Novi citizen) living there from 1963 to 1968. Dr. Vladimir Roganović, a member of the expert team who worked on the project of revitalizing the house, pointed out that Herceg Novi is the only town in which Ivo Andrić built the house:
"It's been 50 years since he was in our town for the last time. With the opening of the mansion, Herceg Novi begins the symbolical process of his return to our environment, through the memory of the writer's work, life and personality in his Herceg Novi years“.
Roganovic recalled that Andrić had begun to reside in Herceg Novi at the end of the 50s, most notably in the famous apartment no. 10 of the Boka hotel. The project is supposed to be completed by 2020, when the city, thanks to the acknowledged importance of Andrić's House, will get a modern, refurbished house of literature and a representative place for cultural, artistic and tourist experience.
Tatjana Korićanac, director of the Belgrade Museum, visited Herceg Novi and explained that the Museum has done the reconstruction of Andrić's apartment in Soko Banja, and now has the opportunity to reconstruct his house in Herceg Novi, positioning it on a map of the cities where the Noble Prize winner lived, including Travnik, Zagreb, and Belgrade.
