This would be the first time that the summer season will not start with excavations and works on this road, but the tourists who travel from Podgorica to the “Montenegrin metropolis of tourism” will first come across the extension of the highway in Donja Gorica - from the Cetinje roundabout (the former Cetinje traffic light) to the bridge at Sitnica. The announced deadlines for completion of works on specific sections were all delayed. The works had been delayed due to adverse weather conditions, but according to the project, they were not late.
The reconstruction and extension of the route to Zavala were completed in early May, while the end of the same was first announced for the summer of last year and later extended to November. The previous deadline was the end of March; however, this section was completed at the end of April.
However, throughout Montenegro, roadwork will be one of the trademarks of the summer tourist season, and along the road to Cetinje, tourists will encounter obstacles when heading to Petrovac through Golubovce and also towards Ulcinj.
The reconstruction of the main road Podgorica - Petrovac will last until the end of the year, although it was recently announced that the Montenegrin roads would be ready to welcome the season this year.
Summertime is the most favorable time for roadwork as the asphalt is best dried at high temperatures.
Works are also performed on the main road Ulcinj - Sukobin, from Ulcinj to Kruta in the length of 13 kilometers.
"These works started in October, and the deadline for their completion is 360 working days. At the moment, excavation works are being carried out, works on the construction of the walls, works on the bridge construction, and works on the tunnel at this section will begin soon, which will cause the traffic to be closed for up to 30 days. These works will be completed no later than mid-May," said the Directorate.
