The Podgorica team got some help from lady luck as the current champion Crvena Zvezda did not make use of their final attack. First James Feldeine missed a three pointer, and then Mathias Lessort missed a clean shot after a rebound.
The trench battle in the full Sports Center ended in the best way for the home team and already tonight, in the same place, Budućnost captain Sead Šehović may raise the champion trophy.
The blue team was down five points at halftime (42:47), Crvena Zvezda had a great two-point average, and Feldeine was especially inspired, hitting four three-pointers from five attempts.
Zvezda kept their advantage to the middle of the third quarter, and then Budućnost took the rains. Nikola Ivanović and Nemanja Gordić led the team, with Filip Barović and Zoran Niklić contributing on offence and the shift came soon.
Going into the final quarter the home team was up by 4, soon after by 6, but the team coached by Dušan Alimpijević made a comeback, but did not take the lead again.
The final score was set by Gordić from free throws a minute and a half before the end. Both teams were close to victory, but luck served the blue team.
Gordić was the high scorer in the winning team with 17, Nikolić made 12, while ten points were made by Ivanović, Barović and Kyle Gibson.
The Belgrade team’s best scorer was Feldeine with 19, with a point less by Alen Omić.
The fourth game begins tonight at 21h.
