Former handball player Radmila Petrović is the new president of the Management Board of the Women's Handball Club Budućnost, it was decided at the Assembly of the club, reports Vijesti on March 12, 2018.
She was chosen for the function with all the votes in her favor. Petrović replaced Predrag Bošković as the head of the club.
The main sponsor of the club in the future will be the HDL trade chain, whose owner Komnen Laković, in agreement with Bošković, decided that the club's new president should be someone recognized and a well-known sports name.
The choice fell on the former captain, who will thus become the first president and the youngest person to head the most successful competitive sports team in Montenegro.
"I am very happy and it is a great honor, but also a heavy load to run a club the way Pedja did, and I will do my best to continue the successes," said the 29-year-old Petrović, who finished her career as a player after the 2016 Olympics.
Bošković was at the helm of the club since December 16, 2006, when he succeeded Budimir Stanišić.
During his term, Budućnost was the champion of Europe twice, in 2012 and 2015, and won the Winners Cup in 2010.
Bošković is the Minister of Defense in the Government of Montenegro and Vice President of the European Handball Federation.
"I have been thinking about this after the Olympic Games in Rio; it's hard to get away from the family because Budućnost is my second family. I leave the club in a good situation, without any debts to anyone. This is the new beginning for the club, and I am sure it will continue to develop and strengthen its position on the European scene," Bošković said.
