Mogherini is due to visit Montenegro, Albania, Macedonia and Serbia next week in order to present new annual reports of the European Commission on the progress of these countries in European integrations.
Ahead of the visit, Mogherini stated “Western Balkans are Europe and will be a part of EU future, a stronger, more stable and untied Union.”
“This is a common interest and joint responsibility of the regional countries as well, for the good of all our citizens. It is time for positive change in order to achieve irreversible advance towards the EU,” Mogherini said.
As was announced in Brussels, the visit to the region will follow a discussion on Western Balkans in the Foreign Affair Council on April 16 in Luxembourg and the adoption of the Enlargement Packet which will be jointly presented by Mogherini and the European Commissioner for Enlargement Johannes Hahn on April 17 in Salzburg.
The chief of European diplomacy will visit Tirana first, on 17 and 18 April, moving on to Skopje where she will be joined by Hahn. The Balkan tour will continue with a visit to Tivat and end in Belgrade on April 19.
