18 October 2018 - The Minister of Sustainable Development and Tourism Pavle Radulović and Chief Negotiator Aleksandar Drljević met with the ambassadors of EU member states in Montenegro about the achievements in the process of EU accession and presented further activities in 2018.
Meeting with the ambassadors was organised within the project being implemented by the Office for European Integration and Konrad Adenauer Foundation, which aims to inform the public about the process of Montenegro's accession to the European Union.
Minister Radulović stressed that the Montenegrin administration has fulfilled all the obligations in Chapter 27 - Environment and Climate Change and, given that all technical preconditions have been fulfilled, he said he is hopeful that this chapter will be opened by the end of the year.
Chief Negotiator Drljević spoke about the key results achieved in the negotiations, focusing on the results in the rule of law area.
He pointed out that the fulfillment of the provisional benchmarks from chapters 23 and 24, as well as the fulfilling the final benchmarks, is in the focus of the Government and the negotiating structure. He added that the Government is preparing for the next phase of the negotiations, which will be followed by a gradual closing of negotiation chapters.
Ambassadors of EU member states welcomed the results achieved and pledged full support to continue the implementation of reforms. They stressed that Montenegro has shown that it has capacities and deserves EU membership.
