14 October 2018 - "France wants a united Europe and does not oppose further EU enlargement," said Ambassador of France to Montenegro, Christine Toudic. She also emphasized that the integration of the Western Balkan countries remains the European Union’s topmost priority.
The economic relations between Montenegro and France can be much better and special focus should be paid on that, according to her.
“The Association of French-Montenegrin enterprises, established on November 2017, should encourage the stronger interest of French investors for the Montenegrin market. Among the projects which might attract them are those related to spatial planning in the mountain region. Also, our companies, Veolia and Suez, have been interested in the project of constructing the main sanitary sewer in Podgorica,” noted Toudic.
She also advised greater focus on tourism, having in mind the well-known expertise of French companies in this field.
“Three French companies expressed their interest in signing the concession agreement for Montenegro airports, for which a tender is going to be published soon,” said Toudic.
As for the political relations, they are excellent but need further improvements, and there are grounds for bilateral cooperation in the field of agriculture and rural development, as Montenegro has already looked for French expertise in the process of the Common Agricultural Policy reform, according to Toudic.
