He said that preparatory activities on the formation of the assembly body take place in a good and constructive atmosphere, regardless of political differences and disagreements in some segments. He thinks that everyone wants to contribute so that the next elections are organized in an even better ambiance.
"Our discussions are not aimed at those who will not participate in the work of the parliamentary body, but who needs and with which rights and authorizations to participate. The attitude is that the voting right will be held by the deputies, and the right of participation of the academic community, reference NGOs and anyone with expertise and knowledge can help. I expect that the remaining nine delegates from the Democrats and URA, as representatives of their voters in the Assembly, will recognize the interest and find a place in the process. I am convinced that the demanding tasks imposed at this stage of democratization of our society require the rejection of exclusivity, readiness for compromise and the existence of a political vision in the interest of achieving results for the common good. I believe that this should apply to all participants in the process," Brajovic said.
The President of the Assembly also referred to the Government's decision to offer Montenegrin airports to concession.
"The concession documents offered so far are, in our analyzes, unlawful and inaccurate on several grounds to the Law on Concessions, the Law on State Property, the Labor Law, the Law on Air Traffic, the Rulebook on Detailed Conditions for Issuing Certificates to the Airport Operator and others. I believe that the Government will not consider such documents. In addition, the offered arrangement is unfavorable, economically unjustified and contains elements that can be harmful to the state interests," Brajovic stressed.
He recalls that the Social Democrats are the only party that has made a concrete financial analysis of the alternative model compared to the one offered by the Ministry of Transport and Maritime Affairs, that is, the airports themselves to take a loan and invest more than 100 million euros in improving infrastructure and business performance.
While such an offer by the Ministry is on the table, we are convinced that the model we are proposing is far better for the state, i.e., its citizens. In the end, the Social Democrats are not at all against any model, because this would be a reflection of superficiality, insignificance and irresponsibility, but we are uncompromising in the decision to support only those who provide greater social and economic benefits to the citizens of Montenegro. Therefore, we have clearly stated that through a public debate and in direct contact with the government, we will try to convince coalition partners, as well as a smaller part of the public that supports the offered model of concession, to accept our arguments," Brajovic added.
Asked whether the relations of SD with a major coalition partner could therefore remain permanently disturbed, or if there could be a collapse of the coalition, the President of the Assembly says that they are two different independent political subjects with their programs, attitudes, decisions and suggestions of the solution for single questions.
"Regardless of the high degree of agreement on important state issues, there are often significant misunderstandings, some of which are of interest to the public precisely in the way you asked me. Our vision of further economic sustainability and development imposes an obligation for us now to react publicly and reasonably, and a healthy coalition partnership implies, among other things, the confrontation of arguments in the places where decisions are made for the greatest benefits of the state. We will see what final decision regarding the airports will be made, and accordingly, we will also present the party’s view," said Brajovic.
