September 3, 2018 - The eleventh REACT 2018 Regional Camp, with more than 60 young participants from the countries of the region, opened on Monday, September 3rd in the Vusanje settlement, in the Gusinje Municipality.

As announced by the organisers, NGO Alfa Centar, this year's camp will be enriching topics of the rule of law and strengthening democracy in the countries of the region, as well as youth activism, and their participation in national policies and acceptance of reconciliation as a basic preconditions for strengthening stability in the Western Balkans region. At the opening of the REACT 2018 Camp, Slobodan Filipović, the Secretary of the Ministry of defence of Montenegro, will address the participants, followed by Nenad Koprivica, Director of Youth Directorate in The Ministry of sports, Mitja Mocnik, Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia in Montenegro, Anela Čekić, President of Gusinje Municipality and Aleksandar Dedović, Executive Director of the NGO Alfa Centar.

During the five-day camp (September 3rd–8th), 11 lectures, 10 panel discussions and two workshops and debates will be held. Aside from the educational part, the camp program includes sports and cultural activities, as well as a one-day tour of Gusinje and the surrounding area.

By the implementation of the Regional Euro Atlantic Camp REACT 2018, Alfa Centar intends to give its contribution to exchanging experiences between young people from WB countries through the education of the youth about the concept, advantages, and importance of the regional cooperation. It will be an opportunity for brainstorming new ideas for the future of the region as well as contribute to the better understanding of human rights, political and defence issues initiating intraregional exchange and cooperation and help foster trust-building between youth from different ethnic groups.

REACT 2018 will also research different aspects and stages of the accession of regional states to EU and NATO. The main topics are Youth policy (increasing youth mobility, cooperation and activism) defence policy (EU and NATO), international relations, rule of law and human rights.                
 
It gathers the young participants who will support the following objectives: promoting policies which encourage interests, motivations and desire of citizens to support the politics of regional safety and cooperation by opening  expert and broad public debate in order to perceive  how these processes can be strengthened in the light of possible political and economic as well as potential security benefits of joining region to the NATO and EU in the future.
 
REACT believes that only this is a possible path to a sustainable and peaceful development of the region.
