24 August 2018 - Montenegro is a stable and secure state, which guarantees security to its citizens and tourists, said Director of the Police Directorate, Veselin Veljović.
Regarding the incidents that took place during the peak of the tourist season, which are related to the violation of public order and peace and other offenses, Veljović said that the Montenegrin police is determined and able to protect anyone who resides in Montenegro.
"Montenegro is a stable and secure state, which guarantees security to its citizens and tourists. Several isolated and unpleasant events, which are the result of individuals’ irresponsibility, have been investigated and prosecuted," Veljović told MINA Agency.
He urged all citizens to be responsible and contribute to maintaining order and safety, and to the traditional hospitality for which Montenegro is recognized on the world tourist map. Veljović emphasized that the Police Directorate, in cooperation with other state bodies, provides a favorable and safe environment for every citizen and that they guarantee safety and security for guests and tourists.
"This is confirmed by the rapid investigation of these events through the decisive and efficient activities of police officers, a practice which we will continue in the coming period," concluded Veljović.
Police Directorate carries out tasks which are mostly related to the protection of citizens' safety and constitutionally established freedoms and rights, protection of property, preventing the conduct and detection of criminal offenses and violations, finding and capturing the perpetrators of criminal offenses and violations and bringing them to the competent authorities, maintenance of public order and peace, securing public gatherings and similar.
