The Cathedral of St. Tryphun or the Kotor Cathedral is one of the two Roman Catholic cathedrals in Montenegro and represents one of the largest and most magnificent buildings in the Old Town of Kotor. The cathedral was originally built in 809 when famous Kotor citizen Andrea Saracenis bought the relic of St. Tryphon from Venetian merchants and financed the construction. Since then, Kotor has preserved the remains of the Holy Martyr Tryphun, whose following spreads both east and west.
