25 October 2018 - The total public debt of Montenegro on the last day of 2017 amounted to 2,76 billion EUR or 64,17% of the country's GDP. In one year's time, the debt increased by 224,91 million EUR.
“This amount of public debt does not include the debt on the basis of pensions or debt of legal entities and companies which amounts 41,05 million EUR total,” as noted by the Report of the Ministry of Finance of Montenegro.
According to this Report, foreign debt amounted to 2,21 billion EUR and is mostly represented by Eurobonds of around 1,08 billion EUR. Similarly, around 132,59 million EUR of debt was paid off during the year.
Internal debt at the end of 2017 amounted 413,89 million EUR, where mostly loans from commercial banks worth 107,41 million EUR made this debt.
Consolidated debt of municipalities amounted around 166,97 million EUR.
