23 September 2018 - The capital of Montenegro, which continuously develops into a modern state and urban centre of this part of Europe, requires large and recognizable programs, festivals and events that will adequately affirm the cultural values of its citizens. The Podgorica Art Festival (PAF) aims to affirm young artists who will valorise domestic creativity and promote the cultural events in the Capital city. The festival provides an opportunity for all citizens of Podgorica, as well as tourists, to enjoy a unique and dynamic festival ambience as well as street art. The event itself is modelled on European metropolises.
Podgorica Art Festival - PAF 2018 started its program on September 20th and lasts until September 23rd. The organizers of the festival are the Center for Youth Affirmation and the company "BRCA" - organization that continuously gives support to all aspects of cultural persecution of the young, affirmed but also “unknown” Montenegrin artists.
In the framework of the film program at this year's PAF, the documentary "Tierra Utopia" (2018, Serbia), directed by Jelena Stolica, was shown on the first day of the festival. The film program was held in Bokeška Street, on the sidewalk near the Montenegrin National Theater.
At this year's PAF, the audience was also able to view the poster exhibition on the topic of Contamination, which consisted of 20 selected posters received at the International Young Designers Contest, held in partnership with the Fluid Design Forum and the FLUX Design Network.
The program was complemented by a musical segment, featuring the popular band Artan Lili at the opening (September 20), and after that the group JINX, who on the 21st of September played their sounds to the Podgorica audience, both their timeless hits and the material from the last album "Pogrebi i pomiriši" as well. On the same day, the band Egypt – UK, a blues-rock band, also performed at the PAF. The following day, on September 22, the funk-rock band DLM – “Deca loših muzičara“ performed, followed by the band GIFT - one of the leading and most attractive bands in the region and beyond, who is, aside from their tribute to Depeche Mode, also known for their tribute to David Bowie, and by their Britpop and New Wave repertoire as well.
The musical program on the fourth day, September 23, is dedicated to the Montenegrin music scene. After the final phase of the Alter PAF competition, intended for bands which are yet to be affirmed within the music scene, in the evening, some of the renowned Montenegrin bands will perform including Autogeni trening, Parampaščad, BubnjIvi, Rudolf and Freedom.
