05 September 2018 - Montenegrin Institute of Marine Biology presented a new reconstruction project for the site where the new city aquarium “Boka Aquarium” will be built in the future.
The space is conceived so that in darkened rooms the focus should be on the aquariums, which is achieved with special light effects.
A striking detail of the interior decoration of this space is the flooring, which is planned to represent an imitation of the sea so that during the walk through the aquarium, the impression of walking from shallow to deep water is created throughout the space.
Interestingly, in addition to standard aquariums, panels with information, in an exhibition of various seashells and stones, the youngest visitors will also be able to use the touch tank, i.e. a place where they will be able to come in contact with certain species (shells, sea stars, etc.)
The concept of the “Boka Aquarium” is created by the Architectural Studio Enforma.
The aquarium will consist out of four parts:
- Entrance (room A): World and Mediterranean Sea (aquariums 1-4)
- Central (room B): the Adriatic Sea and southern Adriatic (aquariums 5-11)
- Special (room C): Bay of Kotor (aquariums 12 and 13)
- Exit (room C): tropical sea (aquariums 14-16).
