16 August 2018 - This year at National Park Biogradska Gora will be record-breaking, according to the director of National Park Saša Jeknić. He expects that this year the protected area will be visited by more than 50 thousand guests.
For a small area like the National Park Biogradska Gora, this large number of visitors is significant. According to Mr. Jeknić, they are not racing to increase the number of guests in the park, but, on the contrary, the guests who come to visit are very satisfied.
As the number of tourists in the National Park increases, they say they want to increase the quality of the services they provide and welcome every new tourist season with a new product.
"Since this year, we have the Tara river water for all fishing enthusiasts, we have a 'Fly Fishing' zone, which is almost three kilometers long. In addition to those who love fishing, we also have boat rides, kayaks, and bicycle rentals," the director of the NP said.
With the work of the Biogradsko Lake restaurant, there is an increase in the number of guests in the NP bungalows. All in all, they are very satisfied with the tourist season.
The electricity network has also been reconstructed. For three months during the winter, the park visitors did not have electricity in the bungalows, which was an urgent matter. By laying out an underground tenth-kilowatt cable on the relation of Kraljevo kula-Biogradsko jezero, they solved the major problem of electricity supply in the protected area.
The director also expects that by the end of 2018, the NP will receive the main reconstruction project for the Ganovac water source. The project should include building and reconstructing the complete water supply network in the park, as well as providing numerous hydrants for the first time on the territory of Biogradska Gora.
A problem that remains to be solved is the parking lot. Together with UNDP, the Chamber of Commerce, the NP organisers have been working on the parking lot project. According to the project, the parking space will be moved to the Kraljevo kolo location. On Kraljevo kolo, they plan to have about 100 places for small passenger vehicles, fifteen parking spaces for buses and thirty parking spaces for vans. From that location, two tourist trains would transport the tourists directly to the park.
Jeknić adds that prices have not changed over the past couple of years. "As far as economic indicators are concerned, today we have 8000 more visitors compared to the previous year. The price of the ticket is 3 euros,” he explains.
