13 August 2018 - The municipalities of Herceg Novi and Kotor, in their hinterland, have a rich material legacy of the Austro-Hungarian period, primarily a military character, which requires revitalization and inclusion in modern tourist flows.
During the manifestation "Let's go to Crkvice", representatives of the cities of Herceg Novi and Kotor spoke on this topic with the military attaché of the Embassy of the Republic of Austria from Belgrade, Tomas Ahamer.
The gathering in the Orjen massif, which aims to encourage the development of the hinterland of Bay of Kotor, was attended by the representatives of Herceg Novi's Agency for the Development and Protection of Orjen.
It was agreed that the Agency will forward all documentation to the Embassy, and that a joint meeting will be agreed on this topic. In addition, the possibility of involving Trebinje with which the two coastal cities connected the Austro-Hungarian road via Orjen was also discussed.
The manifestation "Let's go to Crkvice" is being held for the second year, with the aim of promoting the hinterland of Bay of Kotor, and valorising its natural and cultural and historical potentials. The visitors enjoyed a music programme, animation for children and animation for adults in archery, as well as walking tours in order to introduce and promote the region, led by Željko Starčević. The organizers are the Kotor Tourist Organization and Kotor Municipality, and the co-organizer is Herceg Novi Municipality.
Also, on the August 13th, the summer fest was held in Baošići, and for the night of August 14th, it will find its place in Kumbor.
On the plateau outside the Cultural and Sports Center in Baošići, Music Group Stari Kapetan, the local music Đenović and majorettes Lili performed within the programme that started at 9 PM.
On August 14th, Kumbor will host the "Evening with Castel Nuovo and KUD Ilija Kišić". The event is also starting at 9:00 PM.
Due to recent events, manifestations and culture festivals in Herceg Novi, this town recorded higher visitor rates than in the same period last year.
The number of guests coming to Herceg Novi is higher than last year, this time by 15%. According to the data from the Tourist Organization of Herceg Novi, 38.630 tourists are holidaying in this city.
Weekly statistics show that 680 guests from Montenegro and 37.950 tourists from the region and other countries of Europe and the world are currently in Herceg Novi. There are 6.540 tourists in hotels, 31.979 in private households, while 111 are in car camps.
