12 August 2018 - The programme "Nobel Prize Winners’ Days in Herceg Novi" will take place from August 17th to 19th at the House of the Nobel Prize Winner Ivo Andrić, which presents the continuation of artistic programs at this cultural building in Topla, which opened this summer, while still in the reconstruction.
For the first time in Montenegro, visitors of the Nobel Prize House Winner will have a unique opportunity to see Andrić's home and an authentic Nobel Prize for Literature, which Ivo Andrić received in 1961 in Stockholm for "the epic strength that shaped the motives and destinies from the history of his country."
The Nobel Prize, which consists of a gold medal and a charter, will be featured for three days, from August 17th to 19th, and is part of the exhibition "The Writer, Diplomats and Nobel Prize Winners", in which, by the end of August, Andrić's diplomatic uniform, diplomatic suitcase, and passport will also be featured.
In addition to these museums, on the ground floor of the house, in the place where it was until 1968, the painting of Vojislav Stanić "Barka", displayed in Andrić's workroom at his Memorial Museum in Belgrade, will be placed. The programme will be attended by dramatist Vojin Ćetković.
On the second day, on August 18th, within the program "Andrić's Landscapes", the actor Vojin Ćetković will perform a selection from the play "The Damned Yard".
The programme starts at 9 PM, and the entrance is free.
The programs are organized by the Municipality of Herceg Novi, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, the Consulate of the Republic of Serbia in Herceg Novi, the City Museum of Belgrade, the Secretariat for Culture and Education, the Tourist Organizations of Herceg Novi and the Public Institution of Culture Herceg fest.
In the House of the Nobel Prize Winner Ivo Andrić, there is an exhibition "Andrić writer and/or diplomat" that has been seen by thousands of visitors since July 17th, as well as the book by Vladimir Roganović "Andrić in Herceg Novi" by the Municipality of Herceg Novi and Balkankult Foundation.
By opening the House of the Nobel Prize Winner Ivo Andrić in Herceg Novi, the process of his "return" through the memory of Andrić's work and personality during his year in Herceg Novi began. This return will be fully completed in 2020, when the city of Herceg Novi, with the support of the EU and the IPA project "CO-Co Tour", will get a completely restored house of literature and culture as a representative place for cultural, artistic and tourist offer of the city.
