10 August 2018 - “Operosa Montenegro Opera Festival” 2018 will be held in Herceg Novi from August 22nd to 25th. The opera and classical music festival “Operosa” was founded in 2006 by the mezzo-soprano Katherine Haataja in order to promote young opera talents and contemporary expression to the modern audience. The festival combines the unique performances of international opera talents with the richness of local cultural heritage attracting an increasing number of guests and media from around the world. The aim of the Operosa is to focus on a repertoire that suits young opera singers, working with top producers and presenting opera as a modern and entertaining form.
This year's Operosa Festival 2018 is held on the historic fortresses Kanli Kula and Forte Mare, as well as in the Old Town of Herceg Novi in Montenegro.
The main event of the Festival will be the opera Carmen by the French composer Georges Bizet, which will be premiered on August 24 and will also be performed on the 25th.
Opera Carmen will be directed by Martin Lloyd-Evans, while the orchestra will be directed by Maestro Eraldo Salmieri. Many other famous, renowned opera experts will be engaged in the preparation of this performance. The Audition for the opera Karmen was held on March 6th and 7th in Kolarac Foundation in Belgrade.
The Operosa Festival program consists of three different exciting performances that combine opera, classical and electronic music, dance, acting and ballet. The special guest of the Festival will be the renowned music critic and professor Gianluigi Mattietti as a representative of the Amadeus magazine.
