August 03, 2018 - Plužine is a small town in the Montenegrin north-west, only 25 km from the Bosnian border, and a place you go through when you go on your Tara river rafting trips. Plužine was completely rebuilt after the construction of the Mratinje Dam and Hydro-Power Plant in 1975. Its construction resulted in the flooding of the Piva canyon and the creation of Lake Piva, which, with its 12.5 km², is the second largest lake in Montenegro so the town and the Piva monastery were moved to higher altitudes.
August 4th is the day of the Municipality of Plužine and by this occasion, the citizens of this town of Northern Montenegro were greeted by the representatives of the Government of Montenegro, which congratulated them the very day of their Municipality.
"This year's Municipality Day of Plužine is being welcomed in the environment of economic growth, as a NATO member state, on a stable path towards membership in the European Union. All activities at international level help us to keep the country safe, attract investments and improve the business environment," as noted at the official congratulatory message addressed to President of the Municipality Mijuško Bajagić and President of the Municipal Assembly Petar Mitrić.
Emphasising the potentials of Plužine, by this occasion, the Prime Minister of Montenegro Duško Marković, expressed the belief that the increase in agro-budget by 26.8 % compared to 2017 contributes to the increase of agricultural production, and that the citizens of the Piva Region will use advantages of the Government support.
"The partnership of the Government, which is provided to all local self-governments, will be an additional incentive to jointly contribute to a better quality of life for the citizens of Plužine and everyone in Montenegro," Marković concluded.
