21 July 2018 - In the Old Town at the Square of Belavista, for the 16th year in a row, the International Book Fair will be held. In the glory of the book, as the greatest spiritual valor and reliable guard of the memory of the world, Belavista will be where writers, readers and publishers meet this July. During the eight festive days, the literary readers will have the opportunity to review the current publishing production in one place, enrich private collections with new titles and present books of various genres and themes, along with a quality music and accompanying drama programme.
The event is organized by the Municipality of Herceg Novi and the Tourist Organization of Herceg Novi, as well as the Secretariat for Culture and Education, City Public Library and Reading Room of Herceg Novi.
At the opening ceremony, on behalf of the city, visitors were greeted by the Herceg Novi Municipality's president, Stevan Katić, and the fair event is opened by renowned Norwegian writer Erlend Lu, winner of numerous literary awards, among other prizes of the Norwegian Ministry of Culture and European Young Readers Prize, whose novels were translated into more than 20 world languages.
On the occasion of the 140th anniversary of his death, Stefan Mitar Ljubiša, Academician Radomir Ivanović, will speak about literary and political work. In the poetry-music collage, directed by Miroslav Mika Antić's verse "Am I at all places where my traces are ...", the playwright Vojislav Voja Brajović will read excerpts from the works of famous poets and prose writers, along with the guitar sounds of Uroš Dojčinović.
During this International Book Fair, presentations of fine literature will be presented, which earned the attention of literary critic and readers: Erlenda Luo, Jicak Bar Josef, Vida Ognjenović, Dejan Atanacković, Vladimir Pištalo, Ranko Pavićević, Milovan Vitezović, Ružica Vasiž and Boris Jovanović Kastel. Part about the books will be spoken by: Jasna Novakov Sibinović, Gojko Božović, Zoran Hamović, Mihajlo Pantić, Nenad Šaponja, Vida Ognjenović, Zoran Živković, Dragoljub Kojčić, Maja Simonović and Miraš Martinović.
The programme for the youngest visitors of the Fair will be held on Wednesday, July 25th. In the musical part of the program, the children from Herceg Novi will be presented to their peers. Branko Stevanović, a famous children's writer, will present several segments of his work through the program “We are blessed with book-toys: picture books, poems and stories”, intended for preschoolers and readers of young elementary school age. Also, the Pan Theater will present the performance of “Cat and Rooster” for the youngest audience and adaptation of the song that goes by the same name by Branko Ćopić, which they performed at the International Children's Festival in China.
The opening hours of the Fair are from 7 PM to 12 AM. Evening programs start at 9 PM, with the exception of children's programs, which starts at 8:30 PM. The entrance for all programs and the sale part of the Fair is free.
