January 10, 2019 - Within the jubilee 50th Mimosa Festival in Herceg Novi, the NGO Great Bokelian Fest organizes the Olive, Wine, and Healthy Food Fair in Bijela from 8 to 11 February.
After a two-year break, due to the lack of proper conditions, the Olive, Wine and Healthy Food Fair will reappear on the ground floor of the Cultural Center in Bijela. The 4-day event the 'Great Bokelian Fest' aims to promote the local community and revive Bijela as one of the small places along the Bokelian coast outside the tourism centers. Citizens of Bijela, their friends and guests, will be presented the traditional values of tangible and intangible cultural heritage, homemade products and gastronomic delicacies that visitors will be able to taste and buy at affordable prices.
The Great Bokelian Fest will begin on 8 February at noon in Bijelske Krusevice. On the first day of the event, the locals will celebrate 140 years of the establishment of the school in this village through rich and diverse cultural content.
During the four days of the event, there will be educational, entertaining and gastro programs. NGO The Great Bokelian Fest, in cooperation with the Bijela Community, is organizing a round table on the topic of "Well Known citizens of Bijelske Krusevice." On the occasion of the great jubilee, organizers will arrange the planting of an olive tree dedicated to Jerej Bijelic, founder of the school in Bijelske Krusevice. Otherwise, planting an olive tree dedicated to the famous inhabitant of Bijela is a regular activity within the Olive, Wine and Healthy Food Fair.
The accompanying program includes the members of the Singing Society Grbalj and the guitarist Ivo Krsticevic, and residents and guests can expect a children's masquerade, performances of Herceg Novi City Music and Djenovici Local Music, and numerous other programs within a four-day celebration of the great jubilee of Bijela and the entire Herceg Novi Riviera.
Within the educational part of the program, in the company of olive growers from the Boka Olive Society, organizers plan to visit olive groves in the village, along with the recommendations of experts for the maintenance of olive trees. Also, within this year's festival, renowned herbalist from Bijela, Branislav Popovic, will present his book.
The exhibition and tasting of domestic products in Bijela will be on 8-9 February, and the organizers say it will continue on 10 February, if there is interest. At the fair stands, the Boka Olive Society, NGO Great Bokelian Fest, numerous other partners and hosts from Bijela will offer homemade products of meat, milk, and honey, as well as homemade wines produced traditionally.
NGOs of the Great Bokelian Fest and the Boka Olive Society invite all people who respect traditional values, lovers of good food and a happy atmosphere, to visit them at the Olive, Wine and Healthy Food Fair in Bijela within the Jubilee 50th Mimosa Festival.
