The support for the female entrepreneurship in Montenegro is a lot better than it used to be, although there’s still not enough cooperation with the academic community and scientific and research sector. Besides, European funds aren’t used enough, said Ljiljana Filipović, Deputy President of the Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro.

„We are aware of the lack of cooperation with the academic community and sector of science and research. It’s up to us now to do our best to fully use the resources we have at our disposal“, said Filipović.

She added that 9,6 % of companies in the ownership of women have quality framework when it comes to female entrepreneurship. Around 90% of companies owned by women are small enterprises.

A representative of the Ministry for Human and Minority Rights, Maja Jović, said that Montenegro is under obligation to improve women’s rights as it’s the provision of many conventions. One of the key areas includes economic strengthening of women.

A representative of the Ministry of Economy, Ivana Zečević, said that this Ministry is the carrier of the policy of the development of female entrepreneurship.

„We acknowledge the importance women have in our society and, therefore, we tried to improve the programs and give some advantage to the young women in entrepreneurship“, said Zečević.

According to her, there are two main programs referring to the improvement of the innovation in medium and small enterprises. The objective of these programs is the improvement of business performance through stimulation of consulting services. The other Program includes an increase of competition through harmonization with the international standards.
