August 18, 2020 - The Association of Comic Book Lovers "Herceg Novi Strip Festival" (HSF) will participate in this year's program "Open Kotor Squares," organized by the Municipality of Kotor. An exhibition of original HSF posters with motifs of Herceg Novi and Boka, which are the work of previous HSF's special guests, will be held at Cinema Square on Friday, August 21 from 09:00 to 11:30.
The exhibition will be accompanied by a comics workshop led by the Director of the Association, artist and comic artist, Nikola Ćurčin. Along with this announcement, the HSF also confirms the arrival of the Croatian artist Esad Ribić - another special guest of the 14th Herceg Novi Comic Festival, which will be held from September 4 to 9 at several locations in Herceg Novi. Ribić is currently drawing for one of the largest publishing houses in the world - MARVEL, and he is the author of, among other things, cult comics such as Silver Surfer "Requiem," Submariner "Depths," or Tor "Executioner of the Gods."
"This is the first time that HSF will present some of what it does in Kotor. We are glad that our program has been selected in the Public Invitation announced by the Secretariat for Culture, Sports and Social Activities of the Municipality of Kotor. In addition to the great works exhibited thus far on Cinema Square, we will premiere some of the posters made for the upcoming, XIV edition of the Herceg Novi Comic Festival, which will be held from September 4 to 9," HSF announced. Noting that there are only three weeks left until the opening of the 14th edition of HSF, the organizers of one of the most important cultural events in our country, recall that the last preparations are taking place with vigilant monitoring of the COVID-19 virus pandemic.
"There is great enthusiasm among all the planned special guests. We can already confirm the arrival of greats such as Glenn Fabry, the first winner of the Eisner Award, William Simpson, the official HSF World Ambassador, and Artyom Trakhanov, a huge star from the publishing house Image. It is a great honor to announce Esad Ribić, one of the greatest cartoonists of all time in the Balkans, and one of the greatest in the world. He is an extraordinary cartoonist who has long fascinated the entire world with his painting style. In addition to the superheroes already mentioned, he has also worked on Conan, Fantastic Four, Avengers, Punisher, Gamora, Secret Wars, Civil War, X-Men, X-Force, Wolverine, Ultimates and many more titles. His biography deserves a more prominent column or a weekly feuilleton, and it will be a particular pleasure to share comic book days with him in Herceg Novi," HSF states.
