Queer Montenegro and Montenegro Pride condemned the assault on a trans person in Kolasin and urged the authorities to conduct an effective and thorough investigation as soon as possible of all aspects of the attack, which, according to media reports, have elements of hate crime committed on the basis of the victim's gender identity, it is stated from these organizations.
They specifically called on the Police Directorate, OB Kolasin and the relevant prosecution to do their utmost to discover the aspects of the event.
Queer Montenegro and Montenegro Pride remind that those who commit these hate crimes are guilty of all forms of violence against lesbians, gays, bisexuals and trans people, but all those politicians who have been "spreading hatred and intolerance" for this community for months are also guilty.
"By their failure to do so, they contribute to outweighing the opponents of respect for our human rights and abuse them in the pursuit of their daily political interests."
They called on all citizens, representatives of the Government, political parties, institutions, civil society organizations and the media to raise their voices "on Saturday 21 September at the 7th Montenegro Pride in Podgorica" against the unprecedented oppression we are particularly exposed to by those tasked to protect human rights, the rights of all members of our society.
"On Saturday, September 21, we will proudly walk the streets of the Capital and continue to fight for the freedom of all LGBT people from all over Montenegro. Those who are trying to intimidate us we say that we will not give up, we will not lower our heads, we will not see each other in our own four walls and that the abusers will never frighten, discourage or shake us. "
