22 October 2018 - On October 25th, within the celebratory program of the Day of the Municipality of Herceg Novi "October Days", a retrospective exhibition by Darko Đurišić, a famous Montenegrin painter from Herceg Novi, will be held at the Josip Bepo Benković Gallery. The exhibition named “I paint my own world” will be open for the eyes of the public on Thursday at 7 pm.
Darko Đurišić was born in Srbica in 1927. He was a part of the first generation of the Art School, where he studied and finished painting, learning from Lubarda, Milunović, Kujačić and Leković. He continued with his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Belgrade, at the class of Professor Ljubica Sokić.
After completing his studies he worked as a professor at the School of Art Crafts in Herceg Novi and the regional department of the Higher Pedagogical School from Cetinje, gymnasiums in Rožaje and Bar, and the Pedagogical Academy at the Faculty of Philosophy in Nikšić. Later he worked as a curator of the Regional Museum, and the Gallery "Josip Bepo Benković" in Herceg Novi.
He exhibited independently in Cetinje, Titograd (Podgorica), Bar and Herceg Novi. With the Association of Fine Artists of Montenegro, Đurišić exhibited in Titograd, Belgrade, Cetinje, Bar, Ljubljana, Priština, Kotor, Nikšić, Herceg Novi, Novi Sad, Sombor, Subotica and Zrenjanin. This fine artist has also had numerous collective exhibitions in Barletta, Hamburg, Stuttgart, Mannheim, Oslo, Tunisia, Cairo, Alexandria, Nicosia, Varna and Graz.
Darko Đurišić indebted the city of Herceg Novi with his artistic, thoughtful and cultural creations. Although thematically diversified and interesting, the most prominent feature of Đurišić's paintings is their expressive colour. Thoughtful and expressively rounded and conjectured, his paintings are often mysterious and connected to each other. These paintings form a collection of the artist's personal stories, but they also tell a tale about a man and his place in the Universe.
The exhibition will be opened by Jasmina Žitnik, curator of the Josip Bepo Benković Gallery on October 25th (Thursday), at 7 pm.
