A number of projects have been implemented by the local administration, among which are those that deal with planning the local road infrastructure.
Local roads in the territory of the municipality of Herceg Novi have been in a very bad condition for years. Today, this cannot be noticed. The municipality allocated over €250,000 for road infrastructure works from the budget!
It is best to say that over 13.5 kilometers of local roads have been built in the past year on more than thirty segments! In the cooperation of the municipality with local communities, citizens and local businessmen in the past, there are asphalted streets and roads on the entire territory of the municipality: Savina, Topla, Gomila, Sušcepan, Podi, Kamen, Mokrin, Kruševice, Igalo, Ratiševina, Mojdež, Sutorina, Meljine, Zelenika, Baošići,Bijela. New roads are explored to Rujeva and Obalica in Zelenika, and between Upper and Lower Sasovići, therefore, life returns to the villages in the hinterland.

Only in the past month several roads and streets have been paved. In the local community of Zelenika, Loznička street was arranged, where the works were completed before the deadline and in one of the largest settlements in Herceg Novi Topla 3 streets were asphalted. Also, the local road to the Lučići village in Sutorina was reconstructed. In the local community Igalo, the road through Novo Mesto has been paved in the village of Gomila. The value of these works is €.41.500 The Municipality stated that they will continue with the reconstruction of the roads in the forthcoming period. This will be followed by works on the repair of the first section of the concrete road connecting Topla 3 with Modra ploca and Celi, in the length of 135 meters. In addition, asphalt works will begin on 1,200 meters in Sušćepan settlement by the end of the year.

In order to facilitate everyday life for people with disabilities and persons with lower mobility, through various infrastructure adjustment programs and removing the barriers they encounter on a daily basis, several projects have been implemented by the local government.

Thanks to the good cooperation between the Secretariat for the Local Administration of the Municipality Herceg Novi and MZ Meljine, with the help of the Public Enterprise “Morsko dobro” and the company "Lazure", in Meljine on the beach “Sidro”, a ramp was built which enabled people with disabilities to approach the sea. This is the first beach that is adapted to people with disabilities thanks to the initiative of the local government. The ramp was also built at the entrance to the Local community Bijela, allowing access for the disabled to Bureau for citizens in Bijela - branch of Herceg Novi Municipality, as a point of contact with the secretariats and departments of the administration authorities, and to which they can submit their requests and receive the necessary information.

The position of persons with disabilities is significantly improved when it comes to public urban transport. All buses on the city lines: 1. Igalo-Kamenari-Igalo and 2. Igalo-Meljine-Igalo is circular, equipped with ramps for OSI. In addition, Herceg Novi municipality is the first municipality in the country where there is a taxi company with a customized OSI car.

Also, the municipality has provided free parking for disabled persons. So parking is available in all places in the town, not just on the marked spots, which will greatly facilitate the daily activities of the citizens. In addition, in cooperation with the company "Parking servis" d.o.o. and Municipality certain areas of the town are exempt from paying the parking fees during the winter.

The Secretariat for the Local Government emphasizes that the municipality of Herceg Novi, in cooperation with local communities, will continue to adapt to the town’s infrastructure for the people with disabilities in the future.

Finally, we had the opportunity to talk to the president of the Herceg Novi municipality, Stevan Katić, who had a clear message: "Herceg Novi will be a town where all citizens will have a decent infrastructure and conditions for a quality life. These are the prerequisites for meeting our most important task of providing the future generation's opportunities and motives to stay in Herceg Novi in order to have a fortunate future in their own town with their families. "
