05 October 2018 - On October 5-7th, Herceg Novi will welcome choirs for a programme of a choral competition and concerts. For visiting choirs, Herceg Novi provides an opportunity not only to perform; but also to soak up the atmosphere, enjoy the breeze that mingles the sea air with the scent of pines and explore the vibrant city of Herceg Novi and its surrounds on Montenegro’s beautiful coast.
The International Choir Festival in Herceg Novi, featuring nine choirs from Montenegro, Russia, Ukraine, Serbia and Slovenia, began on October 5th, in Herceg Novi, at 18.30 at the "Music Square", in front of the Music School in the Old Town Herceg Novi.
At the opening of the festival, visitors could enjoy the performances of City children's choir "Stars" from Serbia, Mixed choir "Adoramus" from Slovenia, Female choir "Lad" and Youth choir "Oblivion ensemble" both from Russia and City mixed choir Bijelo Polje from Montenegro.
During the festival, an expert Jury which consists of conductors Sergey Savenko from Ukraine, Dragana Jovanović from Serbia and Aleksandra Knežević from Montenegro, will evaluate the performances of the choirs and the choirs will compete for the Gold, Silver, and Bronze award. Choirs will be judged according to the following criteria: intonation, fidelity to the score, rhythm, sound, diction, conducting, programme and overall artistic impression. The three-member Jury will fill in the Points lists for every ensemble in the competition, according to aforementioned criteria, giving a separate mark to each element.
The organizers of the festival are NGO "Fortuna", Music School Herceg Novi and St. Jerome Church.
