01 October 2018 - At the traditional Serbian competition “Belgrade Choir Festival”, the City Choir from Bijelo Polje won the silver medal.
The Belgrade Choir Festival 2018 took place from 28 to 30 September at the Youth Center in Belgrade. During the realization of this festival, Belgrade was one of the most important destinations on the world map of choral music, and the guests of the festival were some of the renowned choirs from both Serbia and the world.
The Bijelo Polje City Choir performed under the guidance of the conductor Jelena Đaković, whose success at numerous festivals has become an integral part of the profession she has successfully worked in for 18 years. Đaković has previously won gold and silver medals at the most important regional European festivals.
The program of the festival consisted of the competition, the awards and recognition ceremony, and the post-competition concerts. The competition part of the program was held on September 28 in the categories of spiritual and secular music after the opening ceremony.
During the awarding ceremony, a silver medal was served to the Bijelo Polje City Choir. The award ceremony was followed by guest performances of Belgrade professional choirs, such as Viva Vox, Philip Koutev National Bulgarian ensemble with instrumental soloist Teodosii Spassov on the kaval flute, and Collegium Musicum Belgrade.
The Bijelo Polje City Choir was the only competitor from Montenegro, and the competition included participants from Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
