30 September 2018 - The traditional Montenegrin event "Days of Crowberries" is held for the eleventh time in Nikšić, until October 1st, and visitors have the opportunity to taste and buy domestic products at about thirty stands.
Organizers of the event, NGO "Days of Crowberries", pointed out that their goal was to animate as many producers as possible to produce traditional domestic products, all with the aim of creating a strong brand and raising the sales of cornelian cherries.
The NGO was founded 11 years ago. During the first manifestation of the crowberry days, there were only five exhibition stands, and today, more than 30 crowberry producers are proud to exhibit their products in the streets of Nikšić. This manifestation goes beyond the local character, and increasingly takes on the character of a regional, even of an international event type. It is estimated that in Montenegro over 20,000 new crowberry trees have been planted since the existence of the aforementioned NGO.
The organizers were pleased with the opening of the Days of Cornelian Cherry 2018, and on this occasion, they thanked everyone who helped organize the manifestation for the 11th time and expressed hope that they would contribute to the economic and tourist development of the city and the state. They also invite citizens to buy home-made products because they are healthy, natural, thus helping the domestic economy and Montenegrin agriculture.
Traditionally, during the first day of the event, the three most beautiful stands were selected, and the event will continue on Monday, October 1st, in Župa, where students of “Dušan Bojović” elementary school will be given a lecture on the significance of the crowberries. Also, the organizers have prepared the traditional artistic and literary competition, and the event will end with the award ceremony.
