The Herceg Novi City Port is pleased with this year's nautical season that is not yet finished. On the contrary, according to the director of the Managing Agency of the City Port, Božo Ukropina, a good visit, if time permits, is expected also during October.
By September 1, visits were 25 percent better than last year, and more than 1,500 boats sailed into the port. From May up until a few days ago, they had a daily bailout of nine tourist boats from the surrounding area, which also attracted over 2,000 tourists.
Due to lower prices and good weather, September attracted charter boats. “The Dubrovnik flotilla visited us three times with 10-12 ships. Poles that opened this year's main tourist season came again this month with 10 boats. During the Big Game Fishing, there were 18 boat-participants and 15 other yachts in the harbor. Tomorrow we are expecting 23 boats to arrive through a Slovenian company, with sailors from that country, Estonia and Lithuania”, Ukropina announces.
According to him, during September, about 90% of charter yachts came from Croatian charter companies, and the rest were local charterers from Budva and Bar. September was marked by boating sailors from Italy, England, Germany and Russia.
A good visit also means good financial results, so some debts from the previous period will be solved, but part of the funds will be invested in improving the working conditions. This primarily concerns the arrangement of wet fixtures with toilet and showers, which should be realized by next season.
The protection of the breakwater that has suffered significant wounds for years should be provided by means of the Interreg IPA Cross-border Cooperation Program Italy-Albania-Montenegro "Regalports". This is a sum of 217,000 euros, of which one part will be aimed at improving ecological standards and protection against pollution of the port and dock, and the other for enhancing marine operations, Radio Herceg Novi writes.
