"There are two fires in Bioce, where one to two teams are constantly on guard and are currently ensuring that the fire does approach the houses at the foot of the hill," Čađenović said.
He adds that the fire in Ducici yesterday had been put out, but last night somebody, lit a fire in three places between Ducici and Medun.
"The guys put out those fires late last night, but the wind spread it to the front and there the field is inaccessible," says the commanding officer of the Security Department in Podgorica.
Firefighters fought the flames on Thursday on Kržanji in Kuči, and in Bigor in Ljesanska nahija, but no one called them for help at these locations until yesterday afternoon.
"I believe that there is still a fire in Ljesanska nahija, but they are far from homes and properties, so nobody is calling us," said Čađenović.
He stressed that there were 15 firefighting operations during the night, out of which 14 locations were burning grass and crops, and one fire took place on a vehicle.
The fight against flames made it difficult by the stormy wind, and the Institute for Hydrometeorology and Seismology announced it'll weaken to moderate intensity. The Directorate of Emergency Situations appealed to the citizens to be partners with institutions and competent authorities in this venture, to refrain from any kind of fire in the open air, to report any fires and smoke, and to actively participate in fire extinguishing if needed.
As announced, although certain material goods have been burnt during the fires in the previous days, greater damage was avoided thanks to the timely and well-organized operation of the protection and rescue services.
