27 September 2018 - The City Centre of Herceg Novi was flooded by foreign tourists after the Cruise ship Crown Princess sailed in the port of Zelenika.
Ivo Begović, the manager of the Boka Adriatic Agency, which is the representative agency of the company Princess Cruises, said that when the cruiser came for the first time, they made a "test call" for the maritime part, and now they organized a test cruise trip with the deployment of passengers. “During the first test call, representatives of Princess Cruises were able to see what anchoring looks like, what the shore looks like, where the boats that transport passengers from the cruiser sail in, and in general, the whole maritime segment. Today, they will make a test trip with the disembarkation of passengers and it is very important that the agencies in charge of accepting passengers do a good job so that the entire arrival has a positive assessment from the American company Princess Cruises," Begović said.
The Crown Princess Cruiser, with over 3,100 passengers and about 1,500 crew members, arrived in Herceg Novi from Dubrovnik and after that, it is heading towards Corfu. So far, this cruiser visited Kotor 16 times, but the crew members are now looking for alternatives in case of bad weather, Begović explained.
Some of the passengers of the cruise ship are visiting Perast, some expressed the desire to see Cetinje, Sveti Stefan, Budva and Lovćen, and some decided to stay in Herceg Novi. In the City Centre, the Tourist Organization of Herceg Novi organized a welcoming reception for the passengers, along with traditional food delicacies, the sounds of the "Castel Nuovo" ensemble and even guards of honour under the Clock Tower.
