24 September 2018 - Starting from October 15 of this year, any imported passenger or freight vehicle must be equipped with a motor of the minimum standard EURO 4, whereas a brand new vehicle must have the EURO 6 minimum standard, reports the Ministry of Transport and Maritime Affairs.
“The Ministry has drafted amendments to the Rulebook on technical requirements for imported vehicles or those that are placed on the Montenegrin market for the very first time. ThiRulebookok also defines the minimum limit value regarding exhaust emission and noise level for new and used motor vehicles,” as noted by the Ministry.
These safety and technical characteristics are improved and will only make the vehicle safer. Also, Montenegro is obliged to follow and transpose regulations in force regarding ecological standards for vehicles.
In the forthcoming period, the Ministry will carry out the Study of the age structure of vehicles by categories and types, and it will give basic indicators and measures for rejuvenating the rolling pool and increasing safety degrees in traffic.
EURO 4 regulation limits the emission of harmful gases in new vehicles. EURO 6 motors reduce pollution and control fuel consumption.
