Within the celebration of the European Heritage Days in Montenegro, the Public Institution Cultural Center "Nikola Đurković" Kotor - City Library and Reading Room is organizing the event "Tradition of the Art of Bonding", dedicated to the preservation and valorization of traditional stone building skills, without bonding material. The event under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture is scheduled for Saturday, 22 September.
In the multimedia hall of the Cultural Center, starting at 10 am, a roundtable will be held with the theme "Traditional Construction in Stone Without Bonding Materials". Participants Anita Trojanović, Landscape Architect (Dragodid Association Croatia), Antonela Stjepčević, civil society activist (Cultural Association "Napredak" Gornja Lastva), Aleksandra Kapetanović, Architect-Conservatory (NGO "Expeditio") and Željko Starčević, an archaeologist, will present their organization's efforts to preserve and promote traditional building techniques.
After the roundtable, starting at 2 pm, a short demonstration of the construction of dry-stone walls will be organized on a pedestrian route from Kotor to the village of Špiljari. The aim of this workshop is to familiarize the volunteers with the basic skills and the rules of traditional construction.
The event is open to all interested participants, explained the Cultural Center Kotor, inviting citizens and guests to join the celebration of the European Heritage Days in Montenegro.
