"International Expert Advice on the Protection of Underwater Archeological Locations and Training of Professional Divers 2018" is the name of a three-day conference, which begins today at Hotel Splendid in Bečići. The conference is organized by the RCUD Regional Diving Center for Underwater Demining and Training of Divers from Herceg Novi in cooperation with the International Academy of Underwater Techniques and Science from Rome under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture of Montenegro.
On Tuesday, the second working day, the Conference will be officially inaugurated by Mr. Veselin Mijajlović, director of RCUD, at 10 am. On behalf of "International Academy of Underwater Techniques and Science" Sebastiano Tusa, Cultural Property Advisor and Sicilian Identity, will be speaking. Aleksandar Bogdanovic, Minister of Culture in the Government of Montenegro and Nataša Pešić, Secretary General of the Government of Montenegro, will also address the opening ceremony.
Due to the importance of the conference and the process Montenegro is facing in the field of protection of underwater archaeological sites, it was announced that three ministers from the Government of Montenegro and one Italian Minister will participate in the conference. It is of great importance to Montenegro to initiate the protection of underwater archaeological sites and such an international education, hopefully, will be just the beginning of the effort to preserve our invaluable natural wealth underwater, the organizers explain.
At the conference, besides lectures by eminent experts from the country and abroad, there will be an exhibition of underwater archaeological sites along the Montenegrin coast and underwater exploration equipment. RCUD will organize a visit to some underwater archaeological sites in Budva.
