There are still many vehicles leaving Montenegro, writes Radio Jadran.
On average over the last few days, the border crossing of Debeli brijeg exceeded 15,000 passengers and about 4,000 vehicles.
On the Croatian side, they have long delayed the reconstruction of the Vitaljina crossing. Last year's big business, worth EUR 3.3 million, started and stopped the traffic for six months. During the summer, this border crossing was temporarily opened with a single lane. It runs along the sea and Prevlaka, so it is more attractive than the others, but because of bad conditions this summer it has often become a real "traffic stopper".
From September 15th, as said earlier from the Croatian Ministry of the Interior to Radio Jadran, Vitaljina will continue to be under construction, therefore, this Montenegrin-Croatian transition point is likely to be shut down until the next season.
"The future border crossing will have four lanes, two entries, and two exits, with variable signaling. This will undoubtedly influence the increase in traffic flow and thus reduce the crowds during the weekend, the holiday and the tourist season. After the closing of the crossing, on September 15th, in the framework of the continuation of the works, the entire plateau and objects will be built at the crossroad, " specified the Croatian MUP.
It is also necessary to reconstruct the border crossings of Kobila and Sitnica, on the Montenegrin side. They have only one lane for years, i.e. two lanes, police and customs officers work in inadequate offices, and are recording more and more traffic.
