25 July 2018 - Within the traditional manifestation "Podgorica Cultural Summer 2018", on July 26 and 27, at the Independence Square in Podgorica, starting at 9 PM, the music program of the traditional Montenegrin music "We sing to you, Montenegro" will be held.
The upcoming music program "We sing to you, Montenegro " aims to preserve the Montenegrin traditional music both in Montenegro and in the diaspora, and the organisers are the NGO "Association of the Diaspora of Montenegro" and the Secretariat for Culture and Sports of the Capital City.
For the first time in Montenegro, a musical program is organized in which the carriers of a musical event in the competitive part are the diaspora and the emigrants from Montenegro. On this occasion, the NGO "Association of the Diaspora of Montenegro" has earlier sent a Public Invitation to non-affirmed singers from the diaspora to apply for participation in the competition part of the program "Diaspora to its Montenegro" in the competition of Montenegrin traditional music, which is scheduled for July 27, while the event "Montenegro to its Diaspora" will be held a day later, on July 27th.
Therefore, on the first night (Thursday, July 26), which is of competitive character, performers from the diaspora will interpret the famous Montenegrin traditional songs within the program entitled "Diaspora to its Montenegro". The three best interpreters will receive prizes, while all participants will be presented with acknowledgments for their participation and effort.
The second evening of the music program "We sing to you, Montenegro" titled "Montenegro to its Diaspora" is reserved for eminent performers of Montenegrin traditional music. All compositions will be performed live, and all performers will be accompanied by the orchestra of one of the favorite representatives of Montenegrin traditional music, Šukrija Žuti Serhatlić.
The concept of the musical event with two evenings "Diaspora to its Montenegro and "Montenegro to its Diaspora" aims to show that the Montenegrin people are inextricably linked with their roots deeply engraved in Montenegrin soil. The organisers want to remove the spatial distance between people and to clear all the diversities in the way of their living, keeping in mind Montenegrin tradition and rich cultural heritage.
