What’s in season
Red is still in trend this June: a mixture of sweet smells of raspberries, cherries, and strawberries are filling the market stalls - and the sweet cherries are delicious. The price for cherries and strawberries is still between 3 and 4 euro, though raspberries have gone a bit down in price (about 2 euro per 250gr).
New arrivals from nearby Serbia – Forelle pears – are an old European sort first arriving at the market. Due to their small size, they are great for a kid's snack.

An entire range of vegetables are coming from our local fields: green and yellow beans, young potatoes and carrots, onion and garlic as well as zucchini and eggplant.
Jewels of the Northern forests - wild strawberries – appeared at our coastal markets. The catch of the day! If you’re not planning a trip to Durmitor or Kolasin during your vacation, at least try this beautiful berries. They are sold in jars to preserve them better and are about 500gr each for 6 euro.
Another wild forest find – chantarelles. A lovely addition to your menu. Whether sauteed with butter or added to risotto, they are great and 100% organic.
And here is Her Majesty, the Fig Queen of Montenegro! From June, figs will hold on to their place at the market stalls through the summer. Two variations – blue and green – can be served with cheese and wine and are the perfect decoration for your seasonal table. Now at 4 euro per kg.

A new locally grown sort of tomatoes – yellow cherry - is in no way inferior to their red brothers. Very sweet and juicy, they are perfect for your summer salad or vegetarian skewer. You can buy them for 6 euro per kg.
And these little red chilis from the local farms will bring a spicy flavor to your meals (30 cents each).
