May 4, 2018 - “Sea Dance Festival” is the biggest electronic and pop music festival in Montenegro, held since July 2014 at Jaz Beach in Budva. The festival represents an extension of “EXIT Festival”, as the organizers like to call it: “a part of the EXIT Adventure”.
After the first Sea Dance Festival at 2014, it received not only high praise, but it also gained the title “Best Medium-Sized European festival” at the European Festivals Awards held at the city Groningen, Netherlands (January 2015). Since 2014, The Festival was also pronounced as “The Event of The Year 2014” at The Wild Beauty Awards 2014 held in Montenegro, and it has even reached an article in Forbes magazine called “Europe's 10 Best Summer Festivals”.
The location of the Festival has, until this year, been at Jaz Beach in Budva, Montenegro. Jaz Beach is located 2,5 km west of Budva, and it’s 1,4 km long. The beach has a great campground with a capacity of up to two thousand lots. The Sea Dance Festival did not make this beach echo with music for the first time. In fact, Jaz Beach has hosted numerous local and foreign musicians, most famous being The Rolling Stones and Madonna.
Sea Dance Festival offers many different stages for everyone to enjoy: the Main stage, Dance Paradise, Reggae Stage, Silent Dance, Latino Stage, Cinema, and CHILL Zone.
According to statistics, the first Sea Dance Festival was visited by 80 thousand people. The second edition attracted even more guests, as 110,000 festivalgoers decided it was about time they visited 'The Best Medium Sized Festival in Europe'!
According to the organizers, the festival has become one of the most popular summer music festivals, since it’s “set against the backdrop of beachside cocktails and sun-drenched relaxation”.
At yesterday’s session, the Government of Montenegro has decided to allocate 300,000 EUR for the organization of this year's Sea Dance Festival. In this way, the Government has recognized the significant contribution of this festival both to the extension of the tourist season itself and to the stronger economic effects on the entire Montenegrin tourism economy. Following the Government’s steps, the municipality of Budva will invest 300,000 EUR in the festival.
The organizers have decided to change the location of Sea Dance Festival as of this year and have moved it to Buljarica Beach. Buljarica beach is the most extensive beach in Budva, with a length of approximately 2,4 km. Buljarica can be reached by car, boat, or by foot via the hill from the beach Lučica. As the Government document states, "Budva municipality has also supported infrastructure investments in the Buljarica site (complete arrangement of the site, waste water treatment in the festival area, parking and road design, fixing the substation)".
A great number of global media, including CNN, New York Times, Guardian, Conde Nast, Metro, Daily Mirror, Daily Express and many others, recommend Sea Dance as one of the world's best beach festivals. At the same time, the state of Montenegro invites all tourists not only to come and experience Sea Dance Festival but also to spend their vacations here, in the host country of the festival.
