April 29, 2018 - Non-governmental organization and cultural and local Association 'Napredak' Gornja Lastva and NGO 'Our Action' from Kotor have organized a volunteer day on Sunday, April 29, in the village Gornja Lastva, one of the best preserved old settlements on Vrmac. Participants, who will join volunteer day from all parts of the country, will clean and prepare public areas in the center of Gornja Lastva for the upcoming season.
NGO Our Action’s general goal is the development of citizens’ awareness and their inclusion in the social, economic, ecological and cultural development of society, the quality of life of citizens and the local community as a whole. The goals of the organization are planned to be achieved through the strengthening of volunteerism and civic activism, with a focus on young people. For that purpose, this action, besides working on the site, will include an educational class with environmental and heritage protection activists of NGO Napredak. Napredak is the one of the oldest Bokelian NGOs, mainly focused on protection and sustainable development of Gornja Lastva, as well as the whole Vrmac area. The subject of the educational workshop and discussion with young volunteers will be the role of non-governmental organizations in preserving the architectural heritage.
The environmental action starts on Monday, April 29th, at 9 am. Organizers will provide the participants with the necessary tools, refreshments, and lunch.
Volunteer Day is organized as part of the StroNGO project, aimed at contributing to the development of a stronger civil society in Boka Kotorska. The leading partner in the StroNGO project is the Centre for Sustainable Spatial Development Expeditio Kotor. Other partners are four organizations from the area of Boka Kotorska: "Our Action" from Kotor, "Urban Nova" from Herceg Novi, the Cultural and Local Association "Napredak" Gornja Lastva from Tivat and NGO "Agora" from Budva. The project was approved by the European Union IPA 2014 Civil Society Facility Montenegro program.
