April 20, 2018 - As a result of the long-term partnership between the Montenegrin Ministry of Economy and national supermarket chains, the implementation of the new “Goods from Montenegro” (“Kupujmo domaće“) program began in April 2018. The “Goods from Montenegro” program implies 'country of origin' labels on homemade products. The 'country of origin' is precisely the country where the product is manufactured.

The homemade products will be visually labeled on the shelves of the six largest national supermarket chains – Voli, HD Laković, Franca, Aroma, Idea and Megapromet.

By choosing nationally labeled goods, the citizens contribute to the increase of the country’s economic growth and the development of the entire Montenegrin society. The significance of Montenegrin-based branding is visible through the cohesion and cooperation between the government, private companies and final consumers – all citizens. The expected increase of purchasing homemade products will imply that Montenegro's citizens and tourists have full faith in the capabilities of their producers and the quality of the products.

The producers of homemade goods informed the public that they will respect the customer's needs, which means that the products will represent a mix of tradition and modern requirements. They also emphasized that they will put an accent on the products with more colors and flavors.

The activities of the “Goods from Montenegro” program are directed towards making all homemade products more desirable and a habit of all citizens.

By purchasing local products, all citizens make their contribution to the growth of the national economy. In fact, buying local goods influences the strengthening of national companies, the safety of existing job positions, and the possibility of establishing new job positions.

The primary objectives of the project are to develop domestic production, create new jobs, strengthen the identity of the State through promoting traditional values, and to influence the economic and social development of Montenegro positively.

By signing the cooperation agreement, the Montenegrin Government shows tremendous faith in local producers that the products are of high quality, reliability, functionality and that they are competitive when compared to foreign goods. The Government also implied that the “Goods from Montenegro” project is an enormous and ambitious project that demands constant engagement and the cohesion of “the state, the economy, the science and the field”.
