02 November 2018 - On November 2, the Montenegro Business Alliance hosted an Info day in regards to the launch of the project: "Domestic products as an incentive for the development of tourism economy at the local level", which the MBA is implementing with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
The realisation of the project includes the organisation of eight roundtables in 10 municipalities in northern Montenegro (Pljevlja, Bijelo Polje, Rožaje, Plav, Gusinje, Berane, Andrijevica, Mojkovac, Kolašin, Žabljak). The aim of the roundtables is to encourage local economic development through the increase of presence of domestic products in the Montenegrin tourist offer. By organising roundtables, the Montenegro Business Alliance also wants to ensure the increase of domestic products’ share in the supply of local trade chains. After the roundtables, a Fair of Agricultural Products will be held in Bijelo Polje.
MBA has directed its activities to municipalities located in Northern Montenegro since this area is becoming more and more interesting to tourists who like to taste domestic products. Local tourism organisations support the aforementioned project and are currently communicating with locals and helping them with the participation in the roundtables and promotion of their products in city bazaars.
MBA and Montenegrin Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development have recognised that secure placement of agricultural products is a great incentive for agricultural producers to increase the volume of production in order to meet the needs of the market. The multiplication of agricultural producers at the local level is very important for strengthening cooperation with tourism businessmen and trade chains in order to develop the overall economy at the local level.
In addition to the organizers, the Info Day was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, representatives of municipalities and tourist organizations from the north of the country who were thoroughly informed about the way this project was implemented.
