21 October 2018 - The proposal for the 90-year lease contract for the construction of the Kolašin 1600 ski resort will be on the Parliament’s agenda on October 30. The members of the Parliament will have to decide whether to give the state land to the Kolašin 1600 Consortium, consisting of the Kolašin 1600 ski resort and Grener 2 from Tirana, Albania.
The project envisages the construction of a contemporary ski center on the southern slopes of Bjelasica, the area of which is approximately 28 ha. Two or three hotels are going to be built, as well as the apartments and villas. The center will offer an extraordinary guest service, something completely new in the region. It will be 12 km far from Kolašin and 2-3 km far from another ski center – Kolašin 1450.
The members of the Parliament will decide on this proposed contract by the majority of votes, and the minister of sustainable development and tourism, Pavle Radulović, at the last session of the Parliament’s Legislative Committee said this contract protects the state interests and contributes to the development of tourism industry and economy. When asked whether the amount of rent was well determined, he answered the state wanted to develop tourism in that area and the amount of rent defined in the contract cannot be changed for the next 90 years, in case the members of the Parliament vote in favor of leasing the land.
"The lease contract has the breakdown clause and envisages a bank guarantee. I would also like to remind you of the fact that the Consortium has already invested a lot of money in order to be able to submit an offer," concluded Radulović.
However, the Government, on the other hand, did not wish to “close” the contract until it was sure it could provide what was required.
