20 October 2018 - Around 100 out of 960 meters in total of the Moračica bridge spanning structure, the most demanding facility on the priority section of the Bar-Boljare motorway, have been finished so far, said Duško Rondović, chief engineer of the Section I. He expects the works on the spanning structure of the highest bridge on the territory of former Yugoslavia to be completed by the beginning of next year.
Rondović also explained the process itself is very complex and only one segment of the spanning structure takes 10 to 12 days. The connection of the bridge will be done with the use of special formwork after which follow plumbing installations, protection from the wind, fences, asphalt and lighting.
Even more interesting is that around 30,000 cubic meters of concrete will be spent for the spanning structure, while 5,200 tons of metal framework will be built into it.
The height of the pillars on the bridge is 160 meters and the range from the bottom of the riverbed of Morača to the highest point of the bridge will be 202 meters.
150 workers are currently engaged to perform works on this bridge, whereas the total number of workers engaged in Section I is 400.
